First Post - If this is in the wrong topic area I am very sorry.

I have long loathed the idea of buying a handheld device because I have my laptop. Though lately I have found them to become more and more needed in my life between work and school. I am not sure exactly what to do though. The research I have done have made me more confused then ever. Should I wait for the next generation of handhelds to come out? If so, any idea on what to expect? I can't find anything, though I could swear I came across something a month or two ago. Here is what I have found:
Palms and Palm OS:
Functional and cheap

PocketPC and PocketPC2002:
Seems to have alot of potential especially in use with Windows products.
It has alot of media potential especially with the new PocketPC's that have SD and FlashII

I would be very greatful if people were to give there impressions or thoughts on this topic.

Once again sorry if this is in the wrong topic area.

I just purchased a new Sony Clie T615C a few days ago to replace my aging Palm IIIx. I absolutely love my new handheld. I am a medical student so the Palm OS is a must (the majority of medical apps are written for the Palm OS). Also, I have used some PocketPC products and really wasn't overly impressed. I guess I am still of the mindset that a handheld should function first as an organizer. PalmOS is just more suited to this primary function in my opinion. Plus, not that I am anti-Microsoft or anything, but it is kind of nice to have a computer-like device that is 100% Microsoft free.

If you are after media apps and all that, the PocketPC OS may be more suited to your needs. Palm is developing OS 5.0 to be more media-savy, but don't expect to see any devices based on this till Chirstmas.
