I have a Taurus PT99 and it came with 1 10 rd. mag. I bought 2 15 rd. mags online later on but they are pretty crappy. i think i paid $12 for each. Taurus wants like $50 for 1 15 or 17 rd. mag and i think thats beyond ridiculous.

what brand mags do you guys use? what are good brands? where do you buy them from?
 
Have you talked to any local gun stores and asked for their recommendation?

I'd assume you'd be best off with a Taurus magazine..I'm not well-versed in magazine manufacturers..sorry 🙁
 
Nope, it isnt ridiculous.
50 bucks for a quality brand name 1911 clip is about right.
Anything you get in the 12 dollar range had better be a .22 or its crap.

Sorry, good accessories cost money.

HOWEVER, if you search around online and check eBay, you may be able to get what you need for as low as 30. Anything lower and its likely crap.
I never bothered with 45. Too expensive for me all around.
 
I think its rugar mags that you can buy all the parts from the factory and build them yourself for cheaper than the one they sell complete. Might be something to look into.

On my gun I just use factory mags but they are cheap.
 
My local store sells used Glock magazines at a reasonable price - it's probably worth calling a few places to see if they carry any, or know someone who does.
 
the PT99 is a 9mm. its basically a Beretta 92 clone. i think the story goes that Taurus bought some of the factories and gun plans from Beretta awhile back.

anyway, i haven't checked any local stores recently. they are blued metal, not SS mags

The cheap ones tend to be cheap, but you can usually buy a cheap one and put in some Wolff springs to make them act better.

How are they being crappy, are they FTF ? etc?

i think FTF is fail to feed, correct? if so, yes, thats what happens. the cartridge gets stuck sitting straight up in the air between the slide and the chamber.

i don't recall it ever happening with the mag that came with the gun, but its been awhile since i got out to shoot it.

edit: what i should od is take them to my uncle. he is a gunsmith and he says that they can probably be adjusted to feed better. i just keep forgetting about it when i see him.
