Handbrake Settings for IPAD and TV

I have a ton of DVD ISOs Id like to convert to mp4 to make them viewable on both the IPAD2 and the HDTV. Is there a good handbrake setting or profile that I can use to have 1 file playable on both devices?

Also does anyone use a batch encoder for handbrake?

TIA

you can add multiple jobs to the handbrake queue

i once asked the handbrake folks why they didn't impliment drag and drop batch encoding, and they gave me a bitchy reply about how it was unnecessary.

thats the price of free sometimes, a dev that only thinks what he likes is necessary.

well the tv is connected to a PC that runs XBMC, so I want to be able to rip to a nice mp4 (m4v) that is nice enough to use on the xbmc (connected to a 60inch ) but also will work on the ipad2. as for the batch processing, i use handbrake batch encoder since i can point it to a folder and set everything, but it's not been working for me lately without errors so im looking for other options.

Encode them as mkv files. You might need to get another player for your iPad...AVPlayerHD seems to support it.

What sort of errors are you getting when encoding? "It's not working lately" isn't very descriptive but if I had to guess, maybe your ISOs weren't decrypted when they were ripped?

Ive thought about MKV files but really i have too many devices around the house that do not support it whereas m4v or mp4 would have better support.
The errors I get is only in the handbrake batch encoder ( not a handbrake dev product)and it's an application crash.what im looking for really is the most generic preset to use that i know will reasonalbly work on either an ipad natively or on the big screen via XBMC

Start with the iPad default. Switch it from constant quality to bitrate. Set bitrate to 2500. Enable two pass encoding.
