Lol, my previous neighbor next door used to open carry 24/7. You'd see him mowing his lawn with his .22 revolver sticking out of the back pocket of his jeans. I'd always ask him, "Joe, you got that safety on?" *
He made my wife Jessie nervous at first, but I got to know him pretty weill, and he was just a true down home country boy with an open, friendly heart -- kind of shy, actually -- who grew up on a farm and may well have never been to Philadelphia (one hour south) in his life.
* And, yes, I KNOW revolvers don't have safties.![]()
Wrong, they do have safeties. They (a lot) have internal locks and Smith and Wesson just came out with a grip safety on a revolver.

So basically you are saying it's ok for a low life piece of shit to beat be into a coma and leave me on a respirator for the rest of my life, but I shouldn't be able to stop him from doingthat to me?

Wow, you fail at comprehension. I'm pretty sure anyone still means ANYONE. Hopefully you're a better judge when you're gunning down that next criminal at the putt putt fun house.
I'm not sure what's worse, the criminal with intent or the retard thinking he's going to save the day by squeezing a few off.
You know what's funny about all of this... if tomorrow a scientist invented personal shield generator, that was guaranteed to protect anyone from small arms fire, you jack offs would still be out there claiming you needed to carry a gun around in public to "protect yourself".

"Their No. 1 mission seems to be making other people nervous," he said. "That's a little childish. Of all the issues that need volunteerism in this country, in Michigan, in Detroit, you'd think people would find a more useful way to use their volunteer hours than walking around showing they have a gun."

these comments never make sense to me. how many times have we seen bad stuff happen to people in areas that are "safe"? maybe the area he was in at the time was "safe" but what if he goes through areas that aren't? The law says you can't carry a gun onto school grounds. so schools must be safe havens, right? gee, how many school shootings have there been in the last few years?
Do you think criminals only work in "unsafe"/slum areas? I'm sure the best loot is found in the slums...

What's even better:
Atlanta crime report jan-jul '07
Homicide 77
Rape 86
Robbery 1943
Agg. Assault 2471
Burglary 4628
....
Must be some new definition of 'almost no violent crime' I wasn't previously aware of.
That report means that in one full year there are as many victims of violent crime in Atlanta as there are people in my town.

Its ok! The police were slightly preoccupied at those times, but for us, they'll be there to protect us...

How does the violent crime in Atlanta effect violent crime in its suburbs? A high-school friend of mine lived in Malden, which is across the river (stream, really) from Mattapan (the worst area in Boston). There was almost no violent crime in Malden, despite bordering such a terrible area.
