I have a feeling the vast majority of Hammer customers will be running 32-bit Windows XP, perhaps Windows 98. I don't see much of a market for 64-bit Windows, and I think most people will not want to run Linux alone.

don't see much of a market of 64bit windows? huh?

Whats the point of going after the enterprise market with w2k and then just quitting.

Win98 comment is quite funny. Why in the world would you spend that much money on a dual processor hammer and then put win98 on it.

Raise your hand if you have a clue what the main market is for the hammer.

Somewhat rudely written, but I'll ask anyway. Which Hammer? Clawhammer or Sledgehammer? It makes a big difference which hammer you are referring to.

obviously most will run windows 32 bit, but what i want to gather is how many here will run some form of a 64bit os on hammer.

Depends, would the install of Linux be able to run all my games? All my windows software? If not, prolly not. On the other hand, if Hammer does scream in term of performance in modern code, and M$ releases a consumer version of Windows XP that uses the 64-bit extensions of Hammer, I would get a Hammer and use that version of XP on it. No point in not taking advantage of that portion of the CPU (what little the 64-bit extensions would help an OS) if I have it. However, the availability of a WinXP 64-bit won't be a decisive factor in whether I opt for a Hammer or not.
