JERUSALEM ? A U.N. spokesman says Hamas police in Gaza have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents.

Spokesman Christopher Gunness says Hamas police raided a U.N. warehouse in Gaza City on Tuesday evening. He says police snatched 3,500 blankets and more than 400 food parcels.

The aid is vital now because Gazans are facing hardship after Israel's three-week military offensive against Hamas.

Hamas has ruled Gaza since it seized control of the territory in 2007. Gunness said Wednesday this is the first time Hamas has seized U.N. aid.

Israeli officials have charged that the militant group routinely confiscates supplies meant for needy Gazans.

A Hamas government spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Surprising.

But really, they steal them and then can give them out to the people, which makes them look like saviors. Simple PR stunt.

Well, it's not the first time the terrorists look after themselves before the rest of the Palestinian people.

Exactly. We should just let Israel annex Gaza and get this whole fiasco over with, hell we "liberated" the Iraqi's why not the people who are "oppressed" by Hamas? Oh yeah, they don't have oil. My bad.

Didnt they kill or drive off the opposition party members? Many by tossing them off buildings?

For example while the Nazi's were elected with 42% of the vote in 32 they effectively siezed power by killing, silencing, or imprisoning the opposition parties.

They were in a power sharing arrangement with Fatah.

Fatah would not agree to all of Hamas's demands, so Hamas cleaned house in Gaza.

Tell that to all the fatah members who they murdered and imprisoned in their takeover of gaza. Sure they where elected, but they shared power with fatah which they didn't like.

that can't be right... TheSnowman, Craig, and many many others here have told me that Hamas was democratically elected in a completely fair election to honorably serve and lead the good people of Palestine.

So no, you must be mistaken...

No surprise here! Hamas is not interested in their people. They need to GO. I wish Israel hadn't stopped their attacks~ the rockets will stop while they re-stock and then we'll have to start this all over again. Wish they'd just finish it off already.

Are you denying that Hamas was elected in what was widely agreed to be a"fair and democratic election"?

Or are you just trying to ignore that, along with the fact that after Hams won the election our government funded and armed Fatah in a "covert initiative, approved by Bush and implemented by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Deputy National Security Adviser Elliott Abrams, to provoke a Palestinian civil war."?

Blame Israel for another failed attack on Palestine. They shell and bomb a refugee camp and then the group they are attacking to provides blanks to the victims.

Are you denying hamas terrorists murdered fatah members to size total control over gaza?

yes.

Hamas harassed and/or murdered their opposition while simultaneously scraping up just enough of their bloodthirsty brethren to "vote" them into power.

Hamas is a terrorist organization -- nothing more, nothing less -- and they will be dealt with as such.

No, if I had reason to deny it I would have provided the evidence to do so. I was simply pointing out the context of the events which you apparently insist on ignoring, and which Palehorse flagrantly distorts the timeline of.
