Halp, Diablo 2 won't stop hanging on the video test

Alright guys I'm out of ideas I cannot get to run the video test successfully when it used to work just fine. Now It just hangs on Testing DirectDraw or whatever.

I've tried all the newer drivers and several old ones (granted all the new driver beyond 197.45 fail to install for me whether its beta or whql). I also tried installing the directX 9.0c redistributable and it still same results.

I've searched google and didn't see anything else similar to my problem, all the others got error codes or messages.

It makes no sense to me why its not working and all the other games I have play just fine so wtf.

My PC is pretty long in tooth now... (replacing this spring?)
AMD 4000+ (s939-single core)
7900GT
2GB ram
Windows XP (32 bit)

Is it the newest version of D2? If not, get patching.

Also, try setting your desktop res to 800x600, and see if that helps.

Strange that newer drivers won't install, though...related?
