Halogen shop light keeps blowing bulbs. Is it the light or the bulbs?

I have a $12 halogen lamp and $3.50 bulbs. First bulb it got maybe 4-5 hours and the last one less than an hour. These are 250 W bulbs. They burn hot as hell but I'd expect more life than this out of them. I am careful not to touch the bulb with anything dirty like hands.

You can't imagine how frustrating it is being in my torture dungeon and then a bulb goes out mid-session. Infuriating.

Be careful - if you bump those lights when they're hot the bulb will stop working. Don't let them 'bump' the floor or anything until they've cooled off

Edit:

Also, wipe them down with alcohol.

I have a portable shop light like that. I am careful not not touch the bulb. I thinks it's the fixture.

Yep, either the fixture or a higher than normal voltage coming from the wall.

The original bulb came in foam. The recent one in a package and I handled it only with some paper towel that never came in contact with my skin. I am not super duper careful with it but at least one of the bulb-blows occurred when it was not touching anything at all.

Are you getting any blood or other bodily fluid spatter on the bulbs, during the torture sessions?
