Halo2 for PC

If it's anything like the original Halo port, I'm sure it'll require that new $400 card just to render the same graphics at more than 30fps. 😉

Halo & Halo2 are the best FPSs ever made.

If I didn't know who you were I might ask "Why?" or "How?" Instead I'll just call you a hmfg.

I am a HUGE Halo fan, but I definitely would not call them the best FPS games ever. Maybe on the Xbox, but not compared to the many great FPSs on the PC.

You forgot to put enhancements in quotations 🙂.

With Halo 2 only being able to run on Vista, and with Vista being released a mere 2 years after it was released on the XBOX, there had better be some kind of enhancements to the game.

Dont bother. I wasted about 6 hours on that BORING ass game Halo (never finished it because i kept falling asleep because of the copy/paste level design), i sure wont be making that mistake twice.

halo is series is pretty awesome. I am speaking from experience gaming since the nes days. The only thing that destroyed halo series was the horrible port to pc and also the stupid xbox fanboy. Well i really liked the story-line of halo 1 but halo 2 ending was blah... as in if you want to complete the game and know what happened next then you need to buy an xbox 360 + HALO 3 which is pretty not so cool. I am pretty sure i could make halo 2 for vista only work on windows xp. Anyways currently i am playing my import copy of Final fantasy 12 on my ps2 which i can understand a little bit since i know how to speak basic japanese but reading the text i can't do and the game is text heavy game. They have changed the fighting system and it doesn't feel like a Final fantasy game which isn't really a bad thing but i do like the old fighting system instead of this mix of turnbase/realtime battle.

Do you expect the entire franchise to reside on one aging console? It's a good thing the Metal Gear creators didn't follow your thought process, or those games would have had to stay on the NES. Purchasing new consoles and new games is part of the nature of the console business, you should get used to it.

To each his own. But yes, i play RPGs and FPSs exclusively. Now if i was an RTS guy or something then your point is well punctuated 😉

New $400 card? Nah, probably 2 of them in SLI mode to render the same graphics at more than 30fps. 😉

QFT, good man.

Whitecloak is a big enough idiot to actually believe something like that, but in this case I think he was sarcastic. Or he really is dumber than I thought.

If you think Halo comes close to a decent FPS, you've never played another FPS in your life.

everyone knows soldier of fortune 2 is the best fps game ever - for multiplayer anyway

I've played quite a few FPSs in my life and still think Halo is the best.
CS - awesome game, definitely one of the best FPSs on computer, but there are some differences to Halo. The guns in CS are crazy. Pretty much everything comes down to M4A1s, AK47s, and AWPs. And camping is ridiculous when you get to the higher competitive levels (CAL-I). The game becomes "sit behind this corner, turn up headset volume and wait for incoming enemies" :disgust:. Also, once a team gets ahead in points, it just gets easier and easier from there out. Lets say you get 2-3 team wins in a row - now half+ of your team has AWPs/deagles/grenades. If on D, your team will now camp and wait for the enemies to come from the 1 of 4 different paths to your base and then AWP them - if they miss, they will run away and jump back out and try again. Skill FTL. And what is with the 1 shot kills to the waist/arms?? And to top it off, it is almost physically IMPOSSIBLE to join a game and there to not be at least 1 hacker (and the whole teamspeak crap is ridiculous).
UTseries - OMG headache. OMG epilepsy. That game has more purple/green flashing crap than RPGs. And the guns are freakin huge. Do we really need such a big gun to shoot out lil peas? And lemme guess, you got a magic little backpack that holds all 50 of your guns? I know, especially for XBOX, that game is all luck. You see someone and it's pretty much whoever has the better gun wins. In games like CS/Halo people with a worse gun can come out victorious if they play out the scenario right. The gametypes suck huge ones in UT, too.
BF2 - Fun game, nice graphics, but gets boring fast. Levels are too big, IMO, Halo offers you a nice close-combat intensity. And all war games look the same
And as sorta-mentioned in my CS description, a game being on the computer openly allows the possibility for cheating ("hacking"), but with a console, there is less cheating and it is MUCH more apparent when it is occuring, so people don't get undeserved credit.
---------------------
HaloSeries- The guns in Halo are awesome. Each has a different use, and for the most part, if used correctly, can kill an enemy nondependant on their weapon. Since the guns are spawned and not purchased(or where you start with 1 gun/class), like in CS, this allows for a more "even" gameplay, but at the same time leaves it open for the skilled players to take control and win. Because of the armored suits in Halo, a fight between two people takes a longer amount of time, meaning that the outcome is not always determined on first shot (like CS/<insert war game here> ). Having grenades different from weapons also allows more intense battles (sticking/frag grenade if someone hides, etc). The button layout on Halo is amazing. You can do anything pretty much without even having to move your hand. Moving around on computer games requires 3-4 fingers, but on a controller, there is a 1 finger joystick, leaving your other finger avaliable for different things (A.K.A. "claw" method). ugh this is too long
the matchmaking system in Halo is really sweet. not many other games provide this kind of a "you and your friends (instantly) versus complete strangers" competition. In almost all computer FPSs, you're against AND with complete strangers (minus 1/2 friends that might trickle in) - taking away majority of the fun. Halo is also more user-friendly when creating new gametypes. and the party system rocks!
Bottom line:
Halo, although a game with graphics that may not be the top of line, provides one of the (if not the) best and long-lasting multiplayer experiences.

Dude Halo 2 completely sucks. I just got done playing it last night on Live with my buddy. The most fun I've had with it is in single player.

The guns are absolutely retarded. Outside of a couple of the weird alien ones that are OK, they are useless and just thrown in randomly. The game modes completely suck. I played one called SHowers. Rumble snipers is complete sh1t. Every other matchmatking game it found was completely stupid. I can't believe people think that is fun. Well I guess they don't cause people left in droves when those garbage games were launched (ones like plasma pistols start, no weapons on map, in the worst possible map like Ascension). Whcih reminds me, gotta love having to reconnect the whole game just to have a player leave. The maps are crap. For being a deathmatch game mostly they don't make any sense and don't encourage a good DM fight. They should've looked at Quake DM levels for some damn good gameplay.

But all the Halo 2 fanboys (boys is right, every voice chatting little b1tch on there is some 12yr old grom) continue to think its the best thing ever, PC games suck, etc etc.

Maybe it was just a bad night on Live... And it was pretty lagged too.

Explain. If you've actually played Halo for a decent length of time, you would know that the alien guns are actually worse than the human ones. The battle rifle, a.k.a. the best all-purpose gun in the game, is human 😕. And the human sniper is just as good as the alien rifle, if not better. What gun, exactly, is random? Even the least used guns (like needler or bruteshot) have their purpose. If the other team has map control, and you pick up dual needlers, you can EASILY take out a camping sniper (they shoot very far and lock on). Brute shot is an AMAZING melee weapon, and if you know how to use it, can give you can awesome advantage (as it bounces around corners/can shoot far and close depending on the circumstances).

Well, you obviously you didn't play any ranked games. You played a training playlist, which is just meant for people who want to experiment with new stuff or get used to different settings. Practicing with the Plasma pistol can help you figure out how far it will track, and help work on your beat downs. Maybe rumble snipers is complete sh~t because you are not good? You could try sticking to team games until you get better on your own. Then it's fun to play with people all your skill level...

Obviously you haven't played many other games. Usually, at least, if the host of the game leaves, the WHOLE game ends and you gotta go, refresh the server list, find a server with a nice amount of players, nice ping, nice level, not a mod, etc, etc. With this system, the game gives another player host and then the game continues. The maps are crap?! The maps are actually really nice. How can most of them not give a nice DM game when a lot of them are really small and close-combat? Would you prefer a HUGE map (like in UT) where one person just gets the gay sniper rifle and hides in a corner and snipes? What about the deathmatch game didn't make sense? What can't "not make sense"? The rules are pretty simple, if it is a FFA, kill anyone and if it is a team DM, kill the other team.

Umm, do you have YIM or something? I'll voice and show you that I am no little fanboy. There is also a nice little feature called "Ignore", in which you can use to not have to listen to those annoying little 11-year olds. Talking crap to those annoying brats is a fun, too, no? And you cannot say that there are no little kiddies in UT or w/e else you play, becuase I know for a fact that there are. Lag has nothing to do with Halo or (for the most part) XBL. It has to do with the host's connection. The host gets picked by whomever has the highest connection, so it was probably a user-fault (aka your connection might have been slow at the time, were you downloading anything?).

Guys, Whitecloak was being sarcastic.

Deus Ex? The Marathon Trilogy? FEAR? Far Cry? Half-Life? Half-Life 2? The Hitman Trilogy? Pathways into Darkness? I could go on and on. Halo has good (but not the best) multiplayer and hideous singleplayer.

Yeah man, who needs long gameplay, interaction with a game world, and character customization? DEATHMATCH HELL YEAH!

You only say FEAR/Far Cry/HL2 because they are new games. Believe me, in a year or two, those games will not be as popular as Halo still is now. Have you looked at the stats on bungie.net? There's always a TON of people playing that game - why? - because it is one of the best games. The singleplayer wasn't hideous, it just wasn't amazing. Who the hell cares about single player? Single player lasts no more than a couple weeks anyways. Multiplayer is over 90% of a game, and Halo's multiplayer is amazing. IMO, Hitman shouldn't even be considered as a candidate for best game. That game was extremely horrible (maybe the newer one(s) is(are) better, but I doubt it). Pathways into Darkness? Never heard of it and I've never played Deus Ex.

Hmm it seems like that was sarcasm.
I've tried to play a few RPGs in the past - how can you say those aren't boring? Repetitiveness FTL. "Yes! I'm gonna level up my HUNTER! *continues to kill the same CPU-character over and over and over and over* YES! I leveled up! Now I gotta do it again!"
or
"Sweet - new quest. Aww cool it's a puzzle! I gotta break this code!! *punches in 5-digit 0-9 code entries continuously until gets the right one*"
and/or
"Okay, I gotta beat this level. Crap I didn't get all the gems. Now I gotta go retrace my steps until I get them all!!! Awesome!!"
Character customization? You can do that in halo/skins on comp. FPSs 🙂
And deathmatch FTW, yes - it actually takes skill. RPGs take no skill, it is just whoever has played the longest wins

I got FEAR just yesterday and it kicks ass. The physics are awesome, the damage is realistic, and even if the scenery is a bit repetitive, the gameplay never gets old. Far Cry is one of the best games ever, and I most certainly do not like it because it is new. So what if a game is popular? Right now uneducated pieces of garbage singing about pimps is very popular, but that is hardly good. The singleplayer is 99% hideous, with the Silent Cartographer being simply good. And if you like multiplayer, why not UT2004? It has vehicles, huge maps, a lot of gameplay, and everything Halo has plus more. What was good about the singleplayer? Hitman is a great game. Relatively non-linear yet it still follows a plot. Have you only played the first one? Pathways into Darkness was one of Bungie's first games, a FPS/RPG hybrid. Deus Ex is the best game ever, and obviously you have no idea of what you are talking about if you haven't played it.

What RPGs have you played? Unlike the ones you're talking about, good RPGs actually don't force you (for the most part) in what you can or can not do. Changing colors of your battle armor is hardly character customization. You can't change classes, you can't find and keep new items, and you can't improve your character.

Hehe role playing games are boring, I cant play them at all. Every time I hear/see someone talking about them I imagine some nerd drooling over an elf in a thong. But I guess to each his own, I prefer senseless violence and killing though.

Master Chief > wackoffendorf or whatever you guys call your characters.
