I play FPS games all the time... PC and consoles. I enjoyed Halo quite a bit. One of the main reasons was a damned good co-op mode. Multiplayer was lackluster, IMO. I don't care for slow paced multiplayer FPS games. The UT series is more my speed. But I really enjoyed Halo as a single player and co-op game. Good story, good gameplay...

Sooo that means numerous Master Chiefs in a way.
Which means humans should win if the numbers are equal as Spartans are much more powerful than Elites...

According to the site, the game is going to be based on the events before Halo 1. That means lots of Spartans.

I always though Spartans were supposed to be on par with Elites. But Master Chief and the Arbiter are the creme de la creme of both.

Yep, Halo was very enjoyable. The repeating of the Library levels really hurt but everything else about the game was a blast - story, vehicles, co-op, etc

Personally I found Halo to be normal, it is fun, great group fun, but nothing special. An RTS in the universe... I know thye have enough story and material to work with, but I would like to see them pull it off (on a console no less). The contiuation of the story would be good.

Yep, co-op was the other big factor in why I think a lot of people really like Halo. Even in the pretty basic form that it was in Halo, its still better than most PC FPSes in that regard since they typically don't have co-op, with sometimes there being a very poorly implemented mod to add it.

Co-op can make a mediocre game good, and a good game great. I honestly think that co-op is the next big step in games and FPSes specifically. I think Bungie said they want to implement a 4 player co-op mode in Halo 3, which if they pull it off, could make it the best one of the series. I would think that the 3rd Halo book where there were Spartans that were better suited at certain tasks (sniping for instance) would make for an easy way of doing it, but I think they were looking at making one player be the Master Chief and the others control normal human Marines.

Heh reminds me of Empire at War....no true strategy there. Basicly you win if you control the most resources...you can win outright if you have enough bombers and anti-fighter ships. Everything else is just for looks, even with mods. :(

LOL. That's all you have to say for the best selling FPS of all time??? Loser. Anyways, my only concern is that Bungie is now working on wayyyy many projects at once, I hope that they will be able to do them all as well as they did Halo 1... 2 was ok, but had some issues. Though they will not design Halo Wars, they will be involved for sure. And HALO 3 will almost definitely not be out until sometime after summer next year.

Halo isn't the best selling FPS, both Goldeneye 007 for the nintendo 64 and the original Half-Life have sold more copies. Regardless, the best selling games aren't always the best games to play. For example, the Sims and it's heavily expanded franchise.

In addition, there's no reason to for personal slights against those who hold a different opinion on a game that was obviously rushed to completion.

IMO this has the potential to be the next big game.... much like what starcraft 2 would have been had it been developed.

I just dont see how playing an RTS on a console can be possible w/o hurting your hands. :p

I will be talking about all this stuff in Episode 7 of our podcast, "Played" (see below). But there has been some really really interesting news as of late. :D This holiday season is going to be pretty exciting.

This sounds fun just because I think the Halo universe is interesting. If they're developing the RTS from the ground up for the Xbox360, don't expect crappy controls due to a bad port from the PC (Starcraft 64), but expect ingenious controls that should make RTS interesting for a console platform.

That wasn't a Spartan, that was a human soldier (the helmets do look similar though). There's a certain type of troops, I can't remember their acronym from the books, but they wear armor that looks a lot like a Spartan but they're just a highly specialized group, like Navy Seals or Army Rangers.

I didnt, but I did hear they made some pretty big advancements in gameplay and controllability on a console. Still, KB + mouse is exactly what a RTS needs -or maybe I'm just getting old. :/

No, there aren't that many Spartans according to the HALO books. And they can be destroyed, as Master Chief's 30 or so counterparts were. Maybe 2 or 3 survived, but without the rest, the USMC is severely limited. (yes, ima halo freak, like millions of other Americans).

Also, look here, there is mention of a PC version of Halo Wars. I hope that it will be completely different than the console version though, it is hard enough to port FPS's between console and PC, let alone RTS's. Also, elbosco, check your sarcasm meter please. And that was an ODST that the Elite killed.

the trailer makes it looks exciting - halo has an excellent sci fi setting, world, and history (if you read the books)... but NOTHING can touch SC

I seriously doubt that.

It is being made by the people who did Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, so it is pretty much guaranteed to be an awesome game, console or not.
