A Caste system founded on religious devotion has less depth than Doom?

Any United Aerospace executives hijacked airliners and flown them into buildings lately?

I see we have our retard quota for this thread.

The whole training of the Spartans, taking them as young children and all would be great to see in a movie.

....And ripped off from 'Ender's game', which is another piece of crap written for 7year olds.

First, the human side of the Halo universe is stupid anyways. Nothing but a bunch of shallow, military cliches written by computer geeks who've watched too many Alien movies.

The *real* story in Halo is the Covenant, and there's substantial story depth there to make a good movie. Jackson will hopefully catch on to this.

I disagree.

If you ever read the book The Fall of Reach (great read BTW). The human story is VERY interesting. The whole training of the Spartans, taking them as young children and all would be great to see in a movie. I think if Jackson follows the book closely and shows MC growing up and becoming leader, it will be a GREAT movie

Agreed, great book. Actually, the Halo universe has many great side-stories. I hope Peter Jackson researches Halo enough so that he picks up on these. Good movie choices would be
1) Spartans in training/Reach
2) Covenant assimilation (Hunters, elites, jackals, brutes, Prophets?)
3) Creation of the Flood, destruction of flood
4) Mystery of the Halos, fall of the Forerunner

So much potential, only one movie.

Not doom, SC > Halo. I only know the Game universes in both games. Both have books, haven't read them so i don't know on that front.
Thanks for reading thou.

Hopefully they'll follow the plot of the books, which would be much more interesting imo... but the Chief shows his face plenty in those, and talks some too.

Personally I believe the Halo universe is ripped off from the Starcraft universe, but both have their own merits and have enough twists to be different enough.

Not with the way Hollywood is now. They will end up making 5 more movies if the first one turns out lots of $$$$. I can see a Halo: The Beginning being made if the first is any good

I realize that. I also realize that I would love this, because I have sooo many questions about the Halo story that haven't been answered in the first two games.

Hell, that reminds me. When are they gonna make Starcraft 2???

He's not directing (so far), just producing and putting the weight of WETA behind the movie.

Say what you will about Jackson's directing, WETA has turned into an awesome SFX group.

Touché. But SC2 was never announced. There's no hope for an SC fanboy like me...

In any case... back to the Halo movie.

If they're gonna go with Denzel Washington as MC, I have a feeling they'll be following the game plot. DW is too big-name for him not to have a big plot, but John (MC) is supposed to be white, so they can't have the early years either. Disappointing, considering the game plot is rather shallow...

I agree that so far pretty much every video game movie has sucked. But this is Peter Jackson we're talking about here. He'll have a virtually unlimited budget, he knows how to tell a story without letting the effects get in the way and, most important, he hasn't failed yet. And let's face it... King Kong could have been a disaster.

I'm not sure how I feel about DW as Master Chief though. My first thought was Jason Isaacs (Cpt Steele from Blackhawk Down - "Who are my running backs?!"). Being a fairly annonymous character, I don't think it's a good idea to put any star power behind him. He's just a no nonsense, brutal killer.

And what's up with the noobs bagging on his rank? Stupid...

Im all for SC2, I use to be a huge fanboy (only a fan now) and would want nothing more than SC2 (or daiblo 3) to come out. I think Blizzard wasted like 3 years of programing on Star Craft: Ghost, they could have used that time to think up a good story and program a really good game. Sadly most of their programers are now working on WoW crap :(

They wasted FAR more time on SC:Ghost than you think. It was originally supposed to come out for N64... then moved back to gamecube/xbox... now, I don't know where it is...

Anyway, doesn't Blizzard have different divisions? I.E. Blizzard North, etc. I'm not sure if the ones working on WoW were the same ones who created Diablo or Starcraft.

SC:Ghost is currently dead. Last I heard they had farmed out the work to an outside shop and eventually shut development down. Edit: Actually, it was always being developed outside of Blizzard. Wiki
Many in the gaming community were under the assumption that the game was being developed by Blizzard when it has in fact been a third-party project since its inception, starting with Nihilistic (Marvel Nemesis, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption) and officially moved over to Swingin' Ape Studios (Metal Arms: Glitch in the System) in July 2004. On May 16, 2005, Blizzard Entertainment acquired Swingin' Ape Studios.

Denzel always comes off as a moody, chip on his shoulder screamer. Honestly, he annoys me in the same way Al Pacino does. I enjoyed the first couple movies both of them made, but now it's just too much over the top yelling and attitude in every movie. I'm really surprised that if they decided to use a big name actor they wouldn't pick someone who the younger generation would be more drawn to; Damon, Hartnett, Bana or Ledger.

How ****** stupid is the name "Master Chief"? Hahaha!

I dunno. Why don't you go up to someone in the Navy and ask it in that exact same way.

Heh. No disrespect to anyone who holds the rank.

That statement is 100% contradictive of what you said.

To me calling a guy Master Chief sounds dumb. It has nothing to do with the actual real rank. Nevermind.
They call him Master Chief because of his rank...

I know. Like I said, nevermind, it was more of a joke.

it is a stupid name, I dont care whos rank it is.......

you probably offended his boyfriend which is why he is taking it way too seriously

what if it was "Big Boss Leader Guy?", would you still cry and say its still bad ass

We should beable to vote retards like this out of the AT forums.

Who are you to say anything like this?

Just a humble forum member stating his opinion.

Ghost was cancled I believe, too many pushbacks and whatnot. I thought it was originally planned for the PS2, but I must be wrong. Sadly most of the people who originally worked on Diablo 1 & 2 have gone on to better places and things, and I think thats the same for SC. Yes there are seperate sections of Blizzard but they are busy doing other projects, If SC2 was on someones project board, dont expect it to be released until 2010 considering Blizzard's record-it took Blizzard 2 years to release 1.10 for D2 LOD.

I would like to see a warcraft movie, but now is not a good time with LOTR out. Imagine though, probably all of the wow players would go see it, if done right it'd be a big hit.
