We didn't have a dedicated thread for this.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed the frame rate issues. The games don't hold 60fps and at times it is a very jarring change. Sometimes it drops to what seems like 30fps. Changing to classic mode helps a bit.

Also the aiming. Why does the aiming not feel smooth? Is it just me or does Halo feel sluggish and not what could be considered smooth when looking around the environment? Was it always like this and I didn't notice before?

I don't seem to notice anything negative, beyond the lag of trying to do co-op campaigns. Regardless of who is host, my friend and I who play will occasionally just get a lag spike and get killed for it.

I noticed some drops but primarily during cut scenes. Over the course of gameplay I'll get slight drops and the occasionally tearing but overall it stays at 60 fps. You didn't refer to whether you are talking about single player or multiplayer. I don't play multiplayer at all so I'm not sure if my experience is similar. Mine is based purely from the story missions.

In spite of the graphics issues, I'm enjoying them more now than when I played them originally.

I notice some frame drops too during cutscenes. I have yet to let it install all the multiplayer. I uninstalled it a few days ago to mess with the Xbox. I played the first campaign game and the aiming was slow at first so I was looking to turn up sensitivity. Brings back memories of when I had the original Xbox. Glad I picked this up so I can finally play through all the games because I didn't have a chance to.

I didn't touch MP but matchmaking is pretty broken anyway.

The most jarring thing to me is the movement and aiming. It feels so clunky compared to more modern shooters.

Try turning up sensitivity. I forget that in halo you normally don't aim down the sites. But then again I get confused on all the controls.

No it's not that. Stand still and try to look around in a precise circle. In CoD, Battlefield, and Destiny you can do this smoothly and without issue. Maybe it's just Halo: CE but no matter what sensitivity I put it on I can't look in a precise circle. It feels like what I would call mouse acceleration but only on the horizontal. It could have always been like this and I am only noticing it now after a long time of playing other games.

Yep I get the same thing. It's as if the view as you are going horizontally pauses for a millisecond. Almost kind of like how Destiny menu felt like when I was playing remotely with the ps tv.

I played for 5 minutes and haven't touched it since. With how broken MP was, I just don't have the patients to play right now.

Anyone remember if it was like this originally? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure it was, but don't have the original game to check. They've left everything pretty much intact. Play a level of Halo CE, then 2, then 3 and then 4, and it's pretty neat to see/feel how the series changed over the years in terms of controls and weapons.

yeah im pretty sure that in halo the horizontal look speed was different than the vertical look speed.

First complaint I had was the microstutter or frame drops or whatever the hell they call it now. Definitely noticeable and who ever doesn't have that issue I bow to you.

It is almost atmosphere breaking. Halo 2 Anni doesn't have it as bad as Halo CE Anni, and while I didn't try Halo 3, Halo 4 certainly has it too.

During heavy gun fights, there is a noticeable frame drop. Swapping to Classic mode alleviates it and it is a real shock when you go from Upgrade <60 FPS to Classic 60 FPS. It feels so much smoother.

Eitherway, I enjoyed my romp through Halo CE Anni with the GF, look forward to the rest.

The aiming thing is something particular to halo. The vertical movement is considerably slower than the horizontal movement. I never noticed it when I played it back in my original xbox days, but then again I really didn't have many other console FPS games to compare it to. After a decade or more of playing games with individual vertical and horizontal sensitivity adjustments I noticed it immediately. I do see some very occasional FPS drops and hitches, but it never interferes with gameplay. The worst it got was while driving a warthog in Halo:CE. Then it was distracting enough that I had to switch to original mode.

I've heard the performance issues attributed to running both the original and remastered version of the games concurrently to allow switching back and forth smoothly. I'm pretty satisfied with the experience overall though. I haven't gotten to Halo 3 and 4 yet, but I expect that the experience will be a bit smoother due to only running one version of the game, albeit at 1080p.

Don't have it.

However, by FH2 just started to stutter during shifts.

I remember but I think that came off as bashing. There is no doubt a bit if a framerate issue. Supposed to be worse in split screen co-op, with player one getting terrible screen tearing.

I wasn't bashing anything and I own this game ever since midnight the day before launch day. I was just trying to tell everyone I could see stuttering in the streaming and I told everyone I didnt think they would be running this game at 1080p at 60 fps without any issue's and unfortunately I was right.
So far what does work is pretty awesome and hopefully they get a patch out to fix the issue's.Right now the only thing I can bitch about is the fact that I cant connect to any Multi player matches for anything. I got to try 1 single Multi player match in halo 3 but nothing since then cause of connection problems on Microsoft's side.

I tried to join some matchmaking games yesterday, I couldn't join anything. I guess the patches they've done so far haven't really fixed the whole problem.

I haven't gotten into a single match yet. Granted, I don't have the will to wait a particularly long time, because I'm just as enthusiastic about the single player campaigns.

If I had played all the halo games before I would not have purchased it so for me it was a good buy as I'll be able to go through the complete set. I may try multiplayer whenever it gets set up.

Yeah I think the only campaign I ever finished was Halo 3 (and I'm not even sure on that) so most of the campaigns I'll actually get to play for the first time.

I bought it for the MP :(
Oh, I'm sure there is a ginormous amount of gamers who are in the same boat.

I have confidence that they'll fix it soon enough. But there are a few games this week full of issues.

Both Titanfall and Destiny had successful launches. Both had open betas... Coincidence?
