According to the description for the official trailer for the game, the next Halo release in the main franchise dubbed Halo Infinite will be on Windows as well as Xbox. Not sure who really cares about the game in here but I'm for sure opting for the PC version over the Xbox One. We know literally nothing about the game but the video does show off the new engine they call the Slipstream engine. Pretty nice looking thus far, but again no game info and probably zero actual game play shown. No release date announced either but at least we know it's coming.

EDIT: Mistake in title...This would be Halo 6 not 5. OOPS

I'm interested, but need more info about the game. Will it have co-op? Will it be completely story-driven and single-player? Is it open world for the first time in the franchise (I.E. exploring a whole Halo ring)? Etc.

Now, what I REALLY want (if anything) from the Halo franchise on PC is the Master Chief Collection (remasters of all first three games on PC, along with co-op for the first game like the original; and not like the one we got on PC that didn't have co-op), along with Halo Reach (which was a good Halo game). Bring me those on PC and we'll be talking. I'm not sure if I actually care about Halo 6 (or "Infinite" ... not sure why they went with a non-numbered name instead, this time) since I never played Halo 4 or 5 (having skipped the XBOX 360 / PS3 / Wii generation, and having skipped XB1, PS4 and Switch) I have absolutely zero knowledge or attachment / connection about what happened since then (story-wise, and gameplay wise too).

If Halo Infinite really is, in fact, Halo 6, and a direct sequel to Halo 5 and is going to come out on PC then I'll take some time watching some inevitable montage of the cut-scenes from the two previous games to have some understanding as to where things went (which I suspect will be all over the place and generally poorly written), before possibly, eventually buying it. But yeah what I truly want if I was given a choice, it would be the Collection, instead.

Well, from what speculation is going around this game takes place following the events of Halo 5 where Master Chief left off. 343 mentioned in the past they want to stop putting numbers after the title. So Halo 6+ will have unique titles and not just be Halo #

Have to see but I've purchased every halo game released since 2001 on every platform it was available on (I actually bought Halo 1 and 2 for PC even though I owned them on Xbox). At any rate I'm pretty impressed with what they showed of the new game engine.

You can bet it'll be tied to the metro-sexual app store as an exclusive, and nobody will buy it as a result.

Reminds me of how they tied Halo 2 to Vista even though it was DX9 and could be hacked to run on XP. Nobody bought Vista or Halo 2.

Probably but they largely fixed the store and it’s been fine for me.

As long as they allow 3rd parties to sell keys I'm fine with it. If its the windows game store only that means discounts will be hard to find for long time.

Dunno you could buy discounted Xbox one versions and you get the pc version free since your accounts are linked.

This further solidifies any reasoning as to why Microsoft needs new Xbox exclusives. Gears and Forza are already on Windows and now Halo will be too. I just don't understand their development priorities right now... ok yea 4K support, HDR and higher frame rates... great. But no new origianl games in the pipeline at all.

Are we getting to the point where brand new (original) games are just too expensive and risky to develop?

Well I think MS is trying to unify Win10 and xbox as a gaming platform. That's a huge advantage over PS4. I mean I'm much more inclined to buy a xbox knowing that any titles I buy I can use on my PC as well.

As for new IP.... It is extremely risky. As in multiple times more likely not to make your money back. Back when I worked for Midway Games they used to talk about it as the pitch meetings. Its not like devs didn't pitch new games all the time, but without a strong tie-in to existing properties you're unlikely to get funding. A new game based on a movie. Say I wanted to make an avengers battlefield type game. Might be able to get money for that. If I wanted to make up my own super hero game, good luck.

No, for Microsoft the Windows and Xbox platform are combined a bit. Cross platform play, Xbox gamer tag and friend list is shared, cross buy as well. For them, they have the most powerful console and for many people that’s where they are at, console. They are just extending that platform across devices. Xbox runs on a version of Windows 10 now. They are looking at it as Forza and Halo etc are console exclusives meaning you cannot play them on PS4 or Switch. They are extending those titles to their other platforms, namely windows 10 so it becomes Microsoft exclusive. Not necessarily Xbox exclusive.

This is patently false. Phil Spencer stated that a new IP was in the works, from the Forza Horizon house helping out one of the other 5 studios MS acquired.

Not having anything concrete to announce right now was disappointing, but E3 is happening right now. Have to stay on top of that news cycle to keep your information accurate.

That basically means nothing... devs work on stuff all the time; lots of projects get canned.
