Halo guys: What button config?

Default? boxer? other?

I'm a long time default user but I'm trying out boxer.

I used Boxer for a little while, but there's no way to do a quick melee while you're dual wielding. If you want to melee, you have to first drop your second weapon with the Y button and THEN you can hit the left trigger for a melee. Also, putting grenades on the B button is just as bad as putting melee on that button.

I've had excellent results with the Green Thumb setup. Zooming isn't something I do much (I suck at snipers and BRs anyway), and pressing B to zoom doesn't really hurt you any. You can still do a quick melee while dual wielding by jamming down on the right thumbstick, and you don't have to move your thumb (preventing you from aiming) during either grenade throws or melee attacks. It's by far my favorite setup.

Green Thumb:

Click right thumbstick for melee attack (normally used for zoom)
Press B for zoom (normally used for melee attack)

Everything else is the same (including throwing grenades with the left trigger). Oh, and anything that normally asks you to press the melee button (such as pulling turrets off their mounts) instead requires you to press the new melee key.

Halo 3 is the first Halo game I've played more than 10 hours, so I've just stuck with the default.

Default. I get thrown off when my melee is not B.

Default. I've heard good things about Boxer though, I'd be interested to hear how hard the transition is and if it improves your play.

it's hard. I've probably put 10 hours on it. Compare that to hundreds if not thousands of hours on default....

What I DO like about it is it makes me think for a few seconds whether or not i should throw the grenade

dual wielding then bashing though, does NOT make any sense to me what so ever with boxer.

the hardest part though is the first 2-3 games, I'll always forget i'm on boxer and keep fucking up. i dunno, i might give it another day or two, but i think im' gonna switch back to default (or try greenthumb)

Actually, the majority of the pros use Bumper Jumpers. I was watching some show on G4 from the MLG guys. They were almost all using it exclusively.

I'm trying to switch now (because basically I have peaked at 31, I know..I suck!!). And in between times when my Xbox is freezing up and getting a green screen in the middle of a game (usually narrows), I have been getting used to it...

I like being able to jump, aim, melee, etc without moving my thumbs off the controller.
