Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG.

I've run the tests, and they have found nothing wrong. I am running DirectX 9.0c. My video card is a Sapphire X850XT. HALO doesn't want to work though, any ideas?

This is an error caused by the fact that you are using something to force a refresh rate. Something like RefreshForce.

I just re-formatted here so I can't check this out exactly so am telling you from memory.

What you'll need to do is go into your launch options. At the end of the already present commands you will need to add something like -vidmode 1280,960,85. This assumes you are set at 1280x960 at 85 Hertz. Make it whatever yours is.

I think launch options are at right-click on execute icon and then properties.

This is actually covered on Microsoft's website. I was going nuts with that error.

edit to say that that hyphen you see between like and vidmode is meant to be part of the bold print but this system won't include it; I'm pretty sure it's -vidmode

Thanks, I will look into it when I am more awake. Been up since Thursday evening when I got up for work. :p Must be a stock setting causing that, as I have done zero tweaking, only installed the basic drivers for everything since I reformatted the machine a few days ago.

I run in 1024X768. No idea what Hertz, though.

I'm having the exact same problem and also ran the diagnositcs which showed no problem. This is on my new machine, AMD 3500+, ATI X800 XL card. My 'old' machine, P4 2.6 XFX 6600 GT runs it fine. Kind of depressing....

When you say launch options I assume you mean the properties of the Halo icon? So mine should be -vidmode,1280,1024,70 if I do recall. Will give it a try when I get home tonight. Thanks
