Getting it today. Considered getting the limited edition but figured I don't need the extras. Probably won't put any real time into it until the weekend
I was going to get the console, but I'm going to see if there's a better deal at Black Friday. Since I intend to get the thing sometime, and it comes with the LE of the game, I bought the standard edition. I was considering the LE, but if I'm going to end up getting it from the console bundle, no point in buying it now.
All of the LE stuff for this game is a giant drag, though. The $100 version has a steelbook, some paper, and a flimsy statue. The $250 is that stuff, along with a big, dumb statue that isn't worth the $150 premium. The console is a $400 thing with $40 in extras for $500. It's all overpriced. It should be $75, $150, and $450, I think. That, or you should have gotten both controllers in the $500 bundle.
you knew it was going to play fast since they're going for halo of duty now.
Ugh...do the people who say this stuff actually play these games? Yes, as a FPS, the game holds some similarities to other consoles shooters. However, the fact it's fast-paced doesn't just mean "it's just like
CoD." It's got so many different things that borrow from several different franchises, including games of the
Halo franchise's past.
For example, they took out the Killcam and loadouts. No more choosing your guns or Armor Ability or getting Ordinance (well, Warzone has something like it).
Halo again zooms you out when you're shot, unlike
CoD.
No split screen is a deal breaker. Somehow games on lessor consoles, going back to the N64 managed to have split screen MP, and this is also when television sets were much smaller. But now in the he era with these crazy powerful consoles they can't do split screen?
Yes, because the Xbox One is much more powerful than those old consoles, but doesn't leverage it for things like visuals, game size, and improved A.I. The problem is a bunch of mediocre PC parts don't power a great experience well. Digital Foundry already showed that the variable resolution drops to 720p and below in some spots WITHOUT having to produce the content twice.
Granted, I'm not a whore for graphics, but I also don't have someone to co-op locally with, so I'm not as bothered by this as those who (justifiably) are pissed they can't play with their friends and family on a single machine.
