Update: We reached out to a Microsoft spokesperson, who denied that Halo 5 will ever come to PC. "Our approach is to deliver epic Halo experiences designed for PC gamers and Windows 10, such as Halo Wars 2 and the recently announced Halo 5: Forge. There are no plans to port Halo 5: Guardians to PC.”

I don't get that logic, are they afraid that people won't buy the Xb1 for it?
Don't they want all people to be using win 10? Just make it a DX12 exclusive title, and problem is solved.

What is true today isn't necessarily true tomorrow. There is always potential for doublespeak. Officially Microsoft my not have plans for Halo 5 PC. Unofficially they may be developing it and have chosen not to announce anything until they are more certain whether it is the right thing to do. Companies like MS do not leave money on the table unless there is strategy involved.

A major aspect of corporate PR is to manage expectations. 🙂

you know what i get from things like these?

"We have no idea how to fight against PC Pirates / Hackers / Proper port, so to save us the headache and embarrasment like UBISoft and The Division, were just not going to give it to PC users... Also we want to still have the public believe the XBOX is a superior platform over PC in GFX, so were just not going to give it to you guys... the END."

Well you'really not missing anything by not playing this game, trust me. I bought it when it first came out, finished the campaign and felt vaguely unsatisfied. I'm not into the multi-player. 6 months later I played through the campaign again, because c'mon it's halo 5, but nope I really didn't like it the second time through. And I loved the master chief collection, including halo 4. If you're into the multi-player I've heard that's OK anyway, but on pc there are already superior multi-player games.

Because Halo is the only real leg they have to stand on. I wouldn't have gotten the annoying to use and sh***y interfaced Xbone if it weren't for my fiancee being a huge Halo fan. My computers are many times more powerful than the joke of a console and would be able to handle split screen without trouble. I expect them to reverse course on Forge as well and keep it to the console because at that point I would probably sell this console and run it off of my HTPC.

The new Xbox coming in 2017 codenamed Project Scorpio is supposed to rival the RX 480 in performance so that's not exactly weak. Though the current model doesn't benefit from this at all and nor will any current games.

The problem I have is all their games are coming to Windows 10 except Halo 5. Most of their games are just rehashes or sequels. There's no compelling reason for me to look forward to the new console next year. Not at this time.

Just a month ago MS said explicitly that they had no plans for a new console to compete with the new PS. I pretty much don't believe anything they say.

Master Chief Collection should be on PC. Next gen consoles suck, there is nothing worth buying them for. Exclusives meh. The last console for me was the PS2 before greed took over.

Yeah, we've heard this already from them but I think the real question is what they have planned for Halo 6. It may not be worthwhile to go over all of Halo 5 again to make sure is runs flawlessly and smoothly on PCs but new projects are something else entirely.

I'm guessing they meant this year so that they could cut off any hype rumors since they knew that people would be disappointed if they expected it and then got the S. But then they also got to stick it to Sony by mentioning Scorpio.

They're still going ahead with the Forza 6 for PC though.

That's not the same game though. But supposedly Forza Horizons 3 will be the same on both platforms.

That was my thought as well, that doing a Halo 5 port wouldn't be worth it at this point, so they'd focus on Halo 6, which will probably have a DX12 based engine which should make cross development easier. It will probably be out what next year too (launch title for Scorpio would help move systems).

hmm... i would love halo 6 on PC. Halo 5 is a blast, I don't care what anyone says 😀

Then i can get rid of the XB1, just keep the PS4 and PC.
I would get rid of PS4 too if FFVII remake is confirmed for PC.

By the time it releases PC's will be (and already are) well ahead of the polaris 10. However MS seemed to be saying titles would be backwards and forwards compatible. Like anything produced for the xbox 1 will run on either compatible.

Old games might run at better frame rates even if its locked to 900p. With a small patch they might be solid 1080p/60 or even 4k games.

What they did say way
1) the new console will play old games.
2) xbox 1 won't be left behind. New games will run on both.

They also announced most of their library will be coming to PC. So why do I even need an Xbox? With no new halo game coming soon I really don't need it.

If halo 6 was going to be coming that soon we would have heard about it by now. They would have shown a teaser at e3 even.

Should be, but remote play through PC has turned out to not be that bad an alternative.
Even when both XB1 and PC are wired to a router with gigabit connection and remote is set to high quality, I still get pixelated images, it's freaking annoying.
