There was rumors floating about making a movie about the Halo right after or about the same time Halo 3 came out. That may of had been a good movie if done right.

It was more than rumors. They were actually in pre-production. It died on the vine though because agreements couldn't be worked out between MS and the movie studios.

There is a collection of videos out there showing what a Halo movie could have been like....complete with Warthogs, spike grenades, etc.

In the history of [edit: movies based on] video games, how many have not sucked? Supposedly the Hitman movie wasn't bad (haven't seen it), but I can't think of any others that were generally considered to be good by normal movie standards. So maybe we're better off not having a Halo movie. 😛

Well, in all honesty, how many video game movies have had someone like Peter Jackson producing and the special effects of WETA available to it? I was highly interested for that reason alone.

You're telling me you didn't love the Mario Bros movie? :Q

Marathon = most enjoyable gaming experience I've had

So it's the only gaming experience you've ever had?

marathon is so dated now, that game sucks complete ass. it cannot stand the test of time. go play the xbla version, it's just a bad game now.

and i don't just mean graphically or anything. its just not fun. there are tons of old NES and SNES games that I will still play today, but marathon, not so much.

It has nothing to do with the test of time......but speaking solely in terms of when I was playing it, I dont think I had a more enjoyable time playing a game.......relatively speaking. Goldeneye was the same way. It kind of sucks now, but man that game was fun.

As long as the single player story line is great then I am all for it. I am one of the few that doesn't play Halo for MP. I really love a great Sci-Fi FPS game story line though. Halo's story is fantastic. Although, I must say that I think they did a better job with the story in Halo 2. 3's story was still good, but I enjoyed 2's more.

Seriously?

I imagine you're comparing it to other sci-fi shooters?

Ya, seriously. Not just other sci-fi shooters either. I really enjoyed the story of Halo a lot including the novels.

I think that is the key thing. The novels added a lot of back story and character elements to the 'Halo Universe' that wasn't present in the game that made the game much more enjoyable overall.

Exactly. I don't understand why so many Halo fanbois say that Halo has such a good story. Wow, aliens attack your ship, so you escape, then you find out about a weapon (Halo). Then, you fight another alien species that only seems to be in there just so that you have a use for the bullet weapons, and finally destroy the weapon (which in this case is the planet). I only played through the first one, but I've heard this excuse back in '03 when I started talking about the PC version.

That's why Bungie needs to update it instead of pumping out more Halo titles.

Maybe you didn't play Marathon back in it's day but I did and to this day I still enjoy playing through the campaigns and multiplayer is just too good (it's probably the nostalgia factor but man that game is one of the best games I've ever played ever). Playing with only the keyboard is the way to go though, Marathon with a mouse is not so fun for some strange reason.

Read the books. They're great, well all the Nylund ones anyways. Unfortunately, Bungie screwed the story up in the games and made it really subpar, other than the first. They just tried to jam so much in to each sequel that they couldn't expand on anything.

To get this thread back on topic - Bungie Tease

Halo developer Bungie is strongly hinting that it might have something to reveal at next week's E3 show in Los Angeles. Wonder what that might be?

Speaking its latest podcast, Bungie's Brian Jarrard and Luke Smith hint that "something" will be happening on July 14, the date of Microsoft's E3 press conference. We doubt they're talking about a new Viva Piñata trailer too.

"Isn't there something going on July 14th or something like that?" One Bungie man asks. "Yeah, around then. There's something..."

"Somehow that's sticking in my head for some reason. Guess we'll have to see,"

"Yep, we'll just have to be patient. Who could say?" Listed to it for yourself here (minute 30).

Seeming as this is 'cheeky gits' Bungie we're talking about, that "something" could turn out to be anything from a bunch of new maps for Marathon XBLA or the next instalment in that franchise it's famous for.

Speaking in trade mag MCV last week, MS marketing man David Gossen promised "fantastic surprises" for the Los Angeles event.

"It would be churlish of me to ruin the fantastic surprises awaiting everybody at E3," he said. "Clearly we'll use that to make a number of announcements."

Less than seven days to go...
