Halo 3 SP Campaign - Area not Safe?

I'm finally getting around to finishing Halo 3 SP. Today I get back from work boot up from my last save only to see my dead body and a message saying "area not safe" before getting booted back to the main screen. Has anyone else had this happen? It doesn't seem to let me restart the level and I really don't want to start all over again.

ive never seen or heard of that before, but if you go to start the campaign mode from scratch, you can start from the beginning of any level that you have already completed or gotten, so you can start that level over.

Awesome, I was poking around in that menu but didn't want to overwrite my save and lose everything.

It's a known bug with co-op mode in the SP campaign.

It sounds like you were dead at that last saved checkpoint. If you don't want to lose ANY progress, other than restarting the level, maybe you could try starting a co-op game and seeing if the game would allow your partner the chance to get to a safe area. You might just be able to try it with 2 controllers.

I was only about 5 minutes into the level anyway. Right before I quit I decided to screw around a bit and just ran around shooting. I must have hit the check point and not realized it.
