Halo 3 Preorder

When I ordered Harry Potter through amazon, they guarenteed that I'd have it the day it was released, not ship it on that day, but actually have it at my house.

Where can I do that for halo 3? Does anyone know?

Well you can try your local game stores. Personally I don't like dealing with them (they had a really stupid midnight thing for Halo 2 here where a bunch of people who preordered months in advance had to wait over an hour), and I wouldn't worry too much about getting a copy unless you want the Legendary or maybe Limited Editions. They started producing them what over a week ago? I'm pretty sure they're anticipating high demand. Halo 2 was pretty easy to find even after the initial rush of people from what I remember. You might contact Amazon and see if they guarantee it like they did with the book. Since Microsoft will probably be shipping them to stores about a week early, they should be able to send it out in time for you to get it on the release date.

Hahaha! i never order from them or go to their site...but good call! lol

EDIT- BAH...you have to pay for overnight shipping. Amazon did it on harry potter with free shipping. Kills the deal

I'm either going to walmart or whatever store after midnight, or going in early int he morning before work to pick it up. I'm hoping I don't have any problems getting a copy.

I don't usually preorder games, but if I can get it shipped to me free on the street date from some website then I will go for it. I wish they would release it on a weekend instead of a weekday. Always have homework to deal with on weekdays.

I'm usually a wal-mart hater but i heard they are going to have checkout lines open only for halo 3 sales.

that sounds great, I'll definitely be checking them out then. Wal-mart is the only store in our town selling Halo 3 (except 7-11).

I work near DC, though. So there are plenty of stores around my office that I can pick it up at before work. I'll go in late if I have to, but I WILL have halo 3!

I don't see why you guys just don't go preorder it to guarantee you can get it at midnight at ebgames or any place that's having a midnight launch, instead of maybe getting a copy at a place like walmart?

it's at least an hour drive for me to the nearest EB games... and I don't plan on taking off work the next day Wal-mart is 5 miles away

I guess I could pre-order at EBgames and pick it up during work the day of release? maybe i'll do that..

EBgames already has a huge list of names...I don't think you'd get your copy now if you reserved. I'm gonna do the midnight thing and just drink and play until I pass out...then repeat all the next day.

Do we know who all is doing the midnight launch thing? I preordered from BB, not too sure if I want to wait there or should I try elsewhere.

I reserved Halo 2 November 8th at like 7pm. I just paid for it all.

I went back 4.5 hours later and got in line at 11:30pm and I got my copy no problem.

It was lame though cause he said if I didn't reserve it I couldn't get it at midnight, yet they had enough in store to fullfill my preorder.

It's just to create hype.

And chrisg22 ... I live right near DC too and there are atleast 10 EBgames w/in like a 10 mile radius. What part near DC do you work at?

In Reston Monday/Tues/Wed and Chantilly Thurs/Fri

I know there is at least 2 near where I work in REston. (Right on the Fairfax County parkway near the toll road)

I just hope I can get out of work long enough to pick it up. Hell i hope i can get out there to reserve it tomorrow/this week

any idea when I have to reserve by to get it on launch day? probably not at midnight but the middle of the day of launch

I'd call to be sure, but I'd think you can do it up until close on the 24th honestly after my experience w/reserving halo 2.

I worked the Madden 08 midnight release at my store, and here's how we did it. Anybody coming in that night we asked if they had their preorder or not. For anyone who didn't have it preordered, or for those who had it preordered but not paid off, we took care of them while the Madden tourney was going on. That way, at midnight, we were able to just hit buttons and not worry about slowing the process down with people paying.

Of course, that was with something like 60 preorders, plus the extras who came in who hadn't preordered. If you guys remember my thread from a few weeks back about Halo 3 preorders, I said my store had 449. Well, we're now over 550. The leading store in my district that had over 650 at the time I posted that, now has over 800 I'm told. The number grows by the day. To tell you the truth, I'm scared we won't get enough, although every Gamestop and EB store has already received plans on how to organize their back rooms to make room for the ungodly amount of boxes holding all these games.

I preordered Halo2 and stood in line at EB Games at midnight to get it. The store allowed people to come in during the day to get numbers and that was the order they'd let people in. I was around 110 and it took me until about 1:30 to get my copy. I got back to my apartment after that and my roommate who hadn't preordered was already there and had beaten the first level. He'd just walked into Walmart a few minutes after midnight, grabbed a copy out of an open box, paid, and left. That's what I'm doing this time.

The only thing you really want preorder for halo 3 for is the free stuff they give out for preordering.

I preordered halo 3 at Circuit City (even though hate them) because they giving out free 4 foot litograph of Master Chief. The kids will love it.

other stores have other promotions.

But Microsoft will likely over produce like they did with halo 2. You will easily be able to find a copy when stores open that day.

Agreed...especially with the title going gold so early. I'm not worried one bit that I'll be able to hop over to my local Best Buy or Circuit City and pick up a copy.

when I went to get Halo 2 I had paid for my copy completely at around 7:30pm that day when I went to preorder it.

I got there at 11:30pm and got in line for the midnight launch.

THey then split the line into 2 lines, those who hav completely paid and those who haven't. Needless to say I was out of there around 12:15am and on my way.
