Yep. All 1.5 million people that have played halo 3 in the last 24 hours must be retarded. Someone needs to clue them in that the game sucks!

<--- one of those tards 🙁

I'd be hard pressed to remember a game that was so hyped leading up to release, to such a point that people feel like they're somehow missing something if they don't enjoy it as much as Microsoft tells you that you should.

I think the reality is that Halo 3 is a good console FPS that wraps up a good trilogy series. Not great mind you, it's not groundbreaking or stunning, at least in my opinion, it's just a good game, and it have a well developed multi-player mode, and that's where 90% of the people who buy it will spend most of their time. I would argue that both Gears and Bioshock had much superior single player experiences, and I know I'll make people go into a flaming frenzy saying that, but it's what I think. I played through Halo on the XBox 1 and then played through Halo 2 on the PC. I preferred the first one, but the second one appealed to me enough to finish it. At some point, I will probably try to play through the 3rd, although it's not pulling at me to find out how it all ends, it's just a vague curiosity that I will at some point satisfy I'm sure.

I really don't think you're going to get flamed for saying you like Gears or BioShock better than Halo. Both are popular games with most people. Some might disagree, but I doubt flames are headed your way.

Yes, there is lots of things that I find wrong with it that ruin the game for me:
I've been up playing it a few nights but personally I find a lot of the modes to be bullshit..

Juggernaut.. --- who the f*ck dreamed this shit up? an invisible character.. that's just asking to make it hard/impossible.. at least they should just make the juggernaut character glow or be normal with some kind of other special attribute other than being invisible. --- I like it

ball mode --- it would be much better if you could shoot while having the ball. ----Disagree killing people with the skull is the best part of picking it up IMO.

that stupid terrirtory/flag game --- who the hell made that? stupid idea.. there should be no offense/defense.. it should be offense/defense all the time, whoever ends up with the most flags at the end wins, if someone obtains a flag, you should be able to steal it at the same time. ---- AGREED TERRITORIES BLOWS

Also-- who made this "press x to party up" that's the most retarded thing ever.. it should be "press x if you want to quit this party" not "hey we're gonna auto-kick you if you don't press x" ------- I like this system. People who aren't paying attention post game don't get included. thats fine with me.

In addition - who the hell made it so you couldn't pick EXACTLY what mode you want to play? that's a stupid idea too. ------ The random aspect of the game is great. alsoo......Veto power.

Oh yeah the comments on campaign. I can see other single player games being better in campaign bioshock, GOW, rainbow six even.

However...... Co-opertive Campaign on Halo 3 is soooooooooooo much fun.

Also, am I just missing something or is there no clan support in Halo 3 like there was in 2?

They have ranked CTF in Team objective......or is it team tactical?

But if I only could choose one, I'd definitely continue the matchmaking. I just want it tweaked 🙂

I wasn't aware of that, I would prefer if it was separate. I hate shotty snipers because I hate sniping - I suck at it and have no desire to try and improve. Maybe I need to tweak my control settings, but I find it impossible to snipe in Halo 3, not that I'm any good at it to begin with. It also seems like, based on my limited experience, some of the playlists tend to gravitate towards certain maps. \[/quote]

get the folks your playing with to veto....prob solved.

H3 takes me 15 minutes to get into a freakin matchmaking game, with over 500k people online.

Sounds like you have NAT problems. Google Halo 3 and NAT and see what you come up with.....

Am I the only one that prefers the Halo matchmaking system to having to search a fucking list of servers? I love choosing what I want, and having everything else done for me. I can't stand looking for servers, it always devolves into the choice between trying to join almost full server constantly getting "server full" messages are a few seconds of connection time or joining a server with few players hoping more people will join. In Halo, you pick what gametype you want, and you hit go. With Halo 2, you had absolutely no problems getting put into a match within 30 seconds for 3 years. With Halo 3, it should be the same.

Of course, I say this with the last few online PC games I played being stuff like BF2, where the server list was horribly broken and buggy.

agreed.

Ok well all is fair here so here's another opinion of the game after I have played it more and figured some more things out.

Juggernaut --- Original opinion - who the f*ck dreamed this shit up? an invisible character.. that's just asking to make it hard/impossible.. at least they should just make the juggernaut character glow or be normal with some kind of other special attribute other than being invisible.

Juggernaut --- New Opinion - After playing it a while longer, I actually found out that red reticule points towards the juggernaut. Now it is much easier to locate him and actually a decent amount of fun. I just didn't know this before, I don't have the game manual because I have a modded xbox 360 - you figure out the rest.

ball mode --- Original Opinion - it would be much better if you could shoot while having the ball.

ball mode --- New Opinion - If you can do beat downs when having the ball (I believe someone mentioned it- that is ok, but I still wish they would at least give you a pistol of some sort.

Terrirtory/Flag Game
--- Original Opinion - who the hell made that? stupid idea.. there should be no offense/defense.. it should be offense/defense all the time, whoever ends up with the most flags at the end wins, if someone obtains a flag, you should be able to steal it at the same time.

Terrirtory/Flag Game --- New Opinion - I played this co-op with 3 other people last night on a 47" LCD tv. It was tough seeing the other team because having the screen split 4 ways is awkward. However, I did find it to be a LOT more fun when 4 of us were able to collaborate together in order to steal the points. This does not change my opinion that they should've just had the whole game be offense/defense all the time. I wish that you could hook up a microphone to each controller instead of having one of those awkward splitters-- that would make it a lot better for 2 or more people at the same location to collaborate with others in order to get the flags. I understand this was most likely a design to keep bandwidth down, however, some of us have fatter pipelines than others 😉

"Party Up Play" --- Original Opinion - who made this "press x to party up" that's the most retarded thing ever.. it should be "press x if you want to quit this party" not "hey we're gonna auto-kick you if you don't press x"

"Party Up Play" --- New Opinion - I still do not get what this thing is exactly. It seems that after a game, everyone leaves, whether I press the party up "x" button or not. This is confusing to me, maybe someone can tell me exactly what it says in the manual so that I can grasp a better understanding of why they made this aspect suck so bad.

No Mode selection --- Original Opinion - who the hell made it so you couldn't pick EXACTLY what mode you want to play? that's a stupid idea too.

No Mode selection --- New Opinion - I know that you can select modes that you want to play by hosting your own game, however, I believe that there should still be a server list. After playing the game a bit more, I would say this is one of the biggest gripes I have due to a player not being able to see individual servers in a list. Being able to categorize those and select the server with the best ping/mode would be an amazing advancements.

Ok and there you have it.. my old/new opinions throughout just from playing the game a little more and figuring out exactly what's going on. Overall, there are some things that I would definitely like to change, but others (such as the game modes) are now fun/decent instead of intimidating.

There is a version of the CTF where both teams are offense/defense all the time. I believe it is some around 3-5 captures as a limit...

Played it on big team battles last night.

Really now? Well I'd really like to find that one because I'm sure it's a hell of a lot more fun than the round based offense/defense mode.

Ya Bioshock is the best sp game I ever played and I also liked Gears sp way more than halo sp but I love halo mp and the campaign was tolerable.

nboy once you get good at oddball, you will find it a lot more fun.

most people who play oddball will try to run at people and bash them with the ball, and the opponent will just back up.

you have to realize that dropping the ball in situations is the way you will become better oddball. when an opponent comes to you, droip the ball, light him up and kill him, then pick it back up.

it took me quite some time and I didn't even really understand this technique until I watched videos of people doing it, regardless of how basic it seems heh.

I was thinking more along the lines of a dedicated CTF matchmaking system. No, Territories, Oddball, etc.. thrown in with it. I hate those matches. 🙁

I understand that's the way it might've been since point #1.. but as a student attending a gaming college, I would have designed the game much, much differently.

It seems that the designers were lacking an overall design of being able to have a server list.

I've also heard halo 2 is much harder on legendary.

From a design aspect, I would have made the game modes much differently for online. I mean that capture the flag mode is the most basic game possible and they really managed to screw it up (at least in my view). It would have been much better with defense and offense in the same round of play, would make the game a lot more fun and interesting.

Don't get me wrong or anything.. going to a gaming school, I am introduced to games every day that I could change for the better. Every game has something wrong with it that can be improved.

a gaming college? what the fuck is that? as if that somehow lends credibility to your opinion...

Correct, game design college. The classes here at the college are designed and geared towards all aspects of creating games, project management, and the students here play games the majority of their time. I have more of a life than most of the students, I actually work and have a girlfriend whereas most students here don't even have a job let alone most still think girls have cooties  I still like to play games a lot of games though.

By the way, you press "X" if you liked your teammates in a team game and want to play with them again. If they want to play with you, they'll press "X" too. If your team lost or they weren't talking to each other during the game, it's unlikely any body will want to stay together. If you won and were talking to each other, it's much more likely that others will want to continue playing with you.
