Halo 2 - PC Port?

Does anyone know if Bungie / Microsoft plans to release a PC version of HALO 2? I don't have a console and don't plan on getting one.

I loved Halo - Combat Evolved for the PC. It was a pretty good FPS game for the PC. The game sucked at first but after giving it a few chances it really draws you in.

I expect there to be a PC version. They won't bring it out for a while cos they are trying to drive Xbox sales. I bet it'll be the same as the last one and come out a year later to milk some extra revenue out of the title..........
 
Im sure it will be..

Think about it, Microsoft will profit either way, why the hell would Micro$oft pass up an oppurtunity to make money? They will keep it exclusive for Xbox for a while to help Xbox out though of course..
 
ok seriously, did someone just advertise anandtech forums on a dozen other sites causing all these new ppl to sign up??

How much better can it look? The Xbox hardware hasn't changed since Halo...
 
I've heard that they WILL NOT port it, the only reason they ported the first one was to build a bigger base for the the upcoming one (and then make people buy an xbox to play halo 2)
 
Yeah, MS will probably do the same thing as before - wait just long enough for us not to care about the PC port, then bring it out. Then, we will all end up buying it anyways like suckers (unless H2 ends up not being that good, which is doubtful).

well, M$ DOES have plans to pit PC gamers directly against X-BoxII'ers for online/lan play ('06).

Probably Halo2 and certainly Halo3. 😉
 
Well... I thought they did a poor job porting it to PC. First of all it took them forever (guess they wanted Xbox to live), and when they finally did performance was just bad compared to games with similar looks that were originally made for the PC.

Gamepad vs keyboard/MOUSE? Hmm... it would sure be fun for me on the PC side.
 
Halo was not worth buying a console over. I have never understood the fascination that so many people had for that game. The only people I knew who loved it were people who had never played a FPS game on a computer before. :/

So I don't care if they bring it to PC or not. If they do, it will be just as shoddy a job as the last one, I'm sure.
 
I didn't think it was shoddy. Some things were a bit improved over the X-Box version. I do admit that the game itself was not my favorite at first... heck I almost uninstalled it. After another whirl however it was enjoyable and it will be nice when Halo 2 makes it to the PC.

MH4 - Halo started off as a PC game - MS bought the studio that was making the game, and turned their focus to making it an Xbox title.

I'd guess we'll see Halo 2 in late 05 on the PC, while rumors of Halo 3 for Xbox 2 start to come out..
 
Halo and Halo2 are the best price perfomance for a FPS. I would love to be playing doom3 or battlefield or HL2 but you have to have such a monster machine. AND what drew me to halo was the co-op
 
I preorderd Halo2 for the Xbox a real long time ago and it will be great. They will most likely make a PC version but most PC ports are not that good. I would rather play it on my xbox with xbox live even though I ernjoy other FPS games more on my PC
 
I thought it was cheesy. I played the first one but refuse to buy an xbox when I already got a pc.

There are a freakin ton of games out there for the pc, I'm just not going to console.
 
I was lucky enough to have a very generous godfather that got my bro and I an Xbox, otherwise I probably never would have gotten into Halo. But as soon as I heard it was coming out for the PC, I knew that would mean MODs, new maps, and perhaps some other things. My bro purchased it, and it did run like CRAP on my PC with a 128MB GeForce 4 Ti 4200. But I found a few graphics tweaks and it runs smooth as silk, you can just google search for the tweaks, it actually looks/runs better than the Xbox version.
 
Yea, we waited 2 years for halo to come to PC and I rather enjoyed it.
I had had quite a few PC FPS gamer friends who loved it on Xbox, actually stopped playing PC for a while because of it.

I am considering buying xbox for my son for xmas or bday so he can do Halo2.
Coop mode a la console seems to be something we PC gamers really don't get to do.
I'd like to see them figure out a way to do single-player coop on PC via LAN.
 
Halo 2 will not be available for pc. My sources tell me that microsoft does not intend to release a pc version. halo 1 had no intention of release but got persuade into release when they started to make halo 2 to create a bigger fan base.

sadly i don't have an xbox, nor do i plan to purchase one for few games that are good on it.

Hope they start working on halo 3 soon and bring halo 2 on pc
