It's funny when Christians and pseudoChristians reject pagan holidays. Where do they think the Catholic Church got the dates for their holidays?
Most lay protestants have a very poor knowledge of Church history.
It is appalling.

Most lay Catholics have a very poor understanding of what legalism is.
It is appalling.

I bet they all know the story of the Good Samaritain.
I think everyone knows that one.

Speaking as an Irishman, I apologize for Halloween, All Hollows Eve, Night of the Dead, etc. The capatalists took our ancient pagan traditions and ran with them. $14 billion spent in the US on costumes, decorations, etc.

Speaking as an atheist, hey, lighten up. Go after the freakin' Easter bunny while you're at it.

Most lay people have a very poor understanding of their church's history. Come on, be fair. Most Catholics suck in that department too. ;)

I definitely don't reject it. It's the premier annual reason for girls to dress up slutty and go out. :p

Its like how my two aunts and one uncle who are very religious won't watch Harry Potter just because it has witch's in it.

no kidding, I've met a lot of catholics who don't even know what st. patrick really did, when I was trying to figure out why we celebrated st. patricks day. (and I'm a southern baptist)

I personally don't care about halloween anymore one way or the other. In the states for the most part it's about dressing you kids up and getting them free candy, few even know the roots of all hallow's eve anymore. the chruches that do usually have a "fall festival" which is the same thing except you don't have to walk all over town and you don't have to dress up to get candy, and there are usually games involved. (cake walks, bobbing for apples, etc.)
