WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman, a relentless critic of Halliburton Corp. for its Iraq contracts, has accepted a $1,000 campaign gift from the donation arm of the company once run by Vice President Dick Cheney.

The political action committee of energy services giant Halliburton gave the money last month and the California congressman will keep it, his spokeswoman Karen Lightfoot, said on Monday, without elaborating on the decision.

*sigh*, I guess everyone has their price. ;)

Anywho, Happy Holidays, everybody. I'm leaving at 6:00 AM in the morning and driving from Austin, TX to southeastern KY. I'm taking my laptop and may check in later.

Yeah, everyone in politics has a price. Doesn't matter if they're Dem. or Rep.

With that said, merry x-mas and hope you enjoy the holiday.

It's traditional to hedge your bets in political contributing. While the Company gave Waxman $1000, the execs, their wives and their adult children are probably contributing $1000 each to the Bush Campaign, and also spreading out their largesse across the spectrum of republican candidates...

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Waxman's re-election is highly likely, so they'll want to be able to say that they did support his campaign when they want something.

It's like the old joke about the recipe for rabbit stew, with a little bit of horsemeat. more like a 50/50 blend, really, you know- one horse and one rabbit in a big pot...

I'm sure Waxman will give their contribution all the consideration it deserves...
