The fools!
I actually don't blame the children. IMO, it's the parents who are at fault. A 19 year old college student doesn't know much about finances unless he/she was taught at a young age. It's why most Americans are financially illiterate. The parents are horrible with their money. They spend money on sh*t they don't need. Hardly contribute to retirement, have less than $1k in savings, 2 new cars, a house they should had never bought, a lifestyle that's way above their income and so on. Their children see this and follow in their footsteps. $150k in student loans? Pfftt... Why worry about the small stuff? Let's all party!!!!
Ask your typical student how much they have in student loan debt and most aren't going to be able to answer the question. Ask them how much they are paying in interest and many won't be able to answer. What are you expected to pay in monthly payments? Nope. They can't answer.
In other news, more than 1.1m students defaulted on their student loans.

That's frekin crazy. I don't know why this hasn't gotten much press. That's a large number and it's only going to get much worse. These people are going to be a burden on the tax payers. Their credit scores ruined for many years. Again, many are too young to really comprehend what they've gotten themselves in.
