I have been running in Merrell Trail gloves for the past 1.5 years. These are minimalist shoes and have not ran more than ~7-8 miles (furthest I ever ran) in them. I plan to run a half marathon in April 2014. I feel having a shoe with a little more cushion may be a wise thing. What are your thoughts? Any recommendations?

Shoes are highly individual. If the minimalist shoes are working for you, I wouldn't look to change, at least until you start going beyond the half. I'd try some longer runs in them and see how you feel when you're doing 10+ miles in your current shoes. If you've still got no issues with the shoes after longer runs, then I'd stick with them.

I am pretty sure Merrell makes a road shoe in the Glove line, I'd check that out first. But there are plenty of minimal road shoes out there, Inov-8 comes to mind as a big player in that space.

Now to find the time to run 10 miles. May age is 32 and weight is 160. I feel that my time is probably diminished with these shoes, but feel I have better form when running in them. Guess the next step is to start stepping my mileage up. Im not running for time anyway as I will not be breaking any speed barriers
