AMD X2 AM2 3800+
2gb ddr2-667 corsair
MSI k9mm-v mobo
380w Antec PSU
windows xp pro sp2

CPU/RAM/MOBO/PSU all brand new....

after 5-10 mins of playing Half-life2 which i might add runs great, crashes and freezes.... my temps are fine my wiring is fine and my drivers are fine... im pretty sure atleast.

54c cpu
82c gpu HEAVY LOADS

the fans are working, no dust visible... i can run counter-strike 1.6 NO PROBLEMS at all, but I go and run half-life 2 with settings jacked up and it crashes soon after...

if my GPU was broken wouldnt it artifact/run bad or not display at all? if it was compatibility wouldnt it crash instantly? i just dont get it.

What kind of video card do you have? I'm going to take a stab at your PSU not having enough power for your video card...

GPU = xfx 6600gt 8x agp.....

i used it with a 3000+ amd and 1gb of ram before on a 300w antec.. now i have a 380w antec to compensate for the upgrade... i hardly doubt it's my psu..

as far as my drivers ive tried many types.

I tend to look towards the motherboard whenever I see someone with a VIA chipset board and stability issues.

Try setting SMARTGART to AGP 4x to see what happens...

My entire decision was made to accommodate x1950Pro 512 MB AGP- I HAD A NIGHTMARE FOR A WEEK- the system kept crashing- just Google "infinite loop error" and stop message x0E, made me get $149 PS thinking it's power issues, wasted 1 week to troubleshoot- come to find out it works fine when SMARTGART is set to AGP 4x...IMHO VIA is to blame although video drivers crash and it seems it's bad video card- good thing I already have 6600GT and Nforce2 so I traced the problem, which has been around with VIA for the last 5 years- SHAME! BE CAREFUL THIS MOTHERBOARD IS NOT WHAT IT CLAIMS TO BE! HT speed listed here is wrong too- it only goes to 800 MHz. Memory defaults at 1.9v, when chips are rated at 1.8v. ONLY 2 SATA connectors. NO firewire.
