Half Life video conflicts?

After saving a game and going back to it, the video splits into quarters on the monitor and the game runs side by side in the top half. The color also goes to purple and white with high contrast.
I have had video driver conflicts with UT and the nvidia 3.68 so went back to the diamond drivers.
Any suggestions to point me in the right direction?
The game did run fine for a long time.

that happend to my halflife as well, there is no way i can think of that makes that not happen after it starts messing up (it didnt do messup for a long time also.)Then a weird thing happend to mine, when i got far in HL it started deleting my games, i was on the homeworld of the aliens (I cant remember the name of the level) and had beaten the queen, and then i saved it, the screen did some weird stuff so i couldnt go on, quit the game came back and all my saved games were gone! sorry this didnt help anything.

Downloaded brand new nvidia drivers and spent a few hours setting up but have the same problem.

That happens to me everytime.
Just go to the main menu of Half Life and wait until your screen saver appear....
