Half-life source is run on the newer source engine, and half-life is the original with the older graphics and engine.

The graphics seem to look the same to me

It's not the full engine. The physics and the water effects are there, but the blocky character models and textures weren't updated at all.

Don't worry OP, there isn't much of a difference.

Yea there really isn't much difference. The lighting is slightly improved. I hope the Black Mesa Mod gets finished soon.

It had been so long between when I had played the original and when I played the source version, but it felt like the source version had some things a bit out of whack. Some of it is nice, but I'd probably rather stick with the original as HL:Source, IMO, really feels like it was something of a rush job just to get it out and help sell gold versions or whatever it was bundled with.

Black Mesa looks promising, but I almost get the feeling we'll have Half Life 3 before they finish :p

So? They're remaking the original into the source engine, so why would it matter if it came out that late? It's still remaking the original. It's not holding anything back.

Don't bother with Half Life:Source. I remember I was so excited for HL:S when I got HL2, I actually didn't even read up on how it actually was. Man was I disappointed. =(

At the rate Black Mesa is going, we'll probably be playing the game after Episode 3 before it's done. =/

So whats the difference between Half-Life:Source and just Half-Life?

Half-Life: Source has much better water that looks incredibly out of place given the dated look of the other content.

Wait for the Black Mesa mod, if it ever comes out.

So nothing added to the story at all? Just the water effects have changed

Hell no. If they added anything to the story, that would mess it up. All it needs is updated graphics and sound. They could re-release it and it would win Game of the Year again.
