Half-Life requires Service Pack 3 or Above on 2k???!!!

Okay...I wasn't able to run Half-Life on my 2k machine, so I decided to dl SP2. Well...now when I run it, I don't get the odd error as before...BUT IT TELLS ME THAT IT REQUIRES SERVICE PACK 3 OR ABOVE! This is odd considering there isn't SP3 yet for 2k. Can someone please help me!!

Its a bug.

Try making sure your HL engine is updated.

It's probably assuming that you're using NT4. Applying the latest patch should fix that.

Have DX 8.0A?

Have newest patch of game?

Have newest vid card drivers?

Prolly depends on exact game and prob you are having.

on a similar vein...i can't install DX8a on my 2k box, is it just not possible?

make sure your trying to install w2k version of dx8a. there are two versions. one for Win9x and one for Win2k

fyi if you use a TNT2, don't use the newest 12.41 drivers in 2k. CS will just throw up a blank screen in DirectX and will give you a &quot;Your card does not support this resolution in OpenGL&quot; in opengl (no matter what resolution you pick).

I found one of the 6's worked... can't remember which one.

I am using all latest drivers and I always get a &quot;Unable to connect to server&quot;. Its like a connection problem. If I ping servers, the resuly isn't accurate.
