Just picked up the game this afternoon, I installed it, and it recommended updating to a newer version so I did. When I'm in the menu, I can't start the game, as soon as I pick a skill level it locks, no hard drive activity at all.

Computer is a PII 400@496/160MB RAM/Voodoo3 2000 AGP

I updated the voodoo3 drivers to the most recent, didn't help. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it without doing the updates, didn't work either. I went to Sierras support page and it said if game locks upon launching then you have to add "-noip 1" to the startup line, that didn't work either. I also messed around with the video settings in the game to no avail. I've run out of ideas! Thanks for any suggestions:)

Have you set the display mode? You need to set it too 3Dfx Opengl (Voodoo 2, not Voodoo 1).

I had that problem a while back. It was caused because the HL shortcut was passing the command "-console" to the application. This command used to allow you to bring up the ocnsole during the game, but was removed. But since you just got HL, I am not sure if this is your problem. Its just something to check I guess. Does internet play work?
