Half Life Open GL Question

Running Voodoo 3 2000 Pci and latest drivers.
I installed Half-Life game of the year edition.
Got the update 50mbs.
Installed update which installed Team Fortress 1.5.

Now when I go to play the game offline such as when i creat a lan game, click on the map I want to play and launch the game it says the selected opengl mode is not supported by your video card. On the side it says for Voodoo owners to use 3dfx mini gl and I am and same problem. I can use Direct 3d but the game is really choppy. Half-Life worked with the 3dfx mini gl before I installed the patch. Any suggestions?
