half-life help please

Howdy all....

In the original half-life game.

Does anyone know how to get out of the
part where you are in the Lambda Core area. You go thru the portal opened by another scientist (maybe toward the end of the game???) and you end up on a little floating island in space I guess.

No idea what to do here. No parachute for a non-fatal landing on another floater below, and no other apparent avenues that I can tell.

OK, if you teleported to a floating rock you have left Lambda Core and have entered Xen.

I have my OLD Half-Life guide book in front of me...it says you need to long jump to jump to first one then another stationary rock floating nearby. From the third rock, you leap to the closest moving platform and then platform to platform til you land on the giant rock below.

You can jump extraordinary distances using your Long Jump Module, which is activated by first ducking, then jumping while running forward.

Yeah, you jsut long jump to all the floating island things.

If you don't know how to long jump, go play through the Hazard Course.

That sounds like a good sound advice! I did try that, but maybe I wasn't doing it right. The long jump is hard to do, but it must be the way. Sometimes it's hard to know where the next step is in this game.

I'm not a huge gamer, as I'm sure you can tell, but still.....I plod along and enjoy it just the same. I apreciate your advice a great deal! (and the others who responded).

Bluto, you have to do a long jump by using the ketpack you should have picked up back in the core. I dont think you can make it to xen without it, so i assume you picked it up. The long just is a little funky ot learn, so good luck!

You need to ctrl+space to jump, then jump from one platform to another, until you solve the issue of getting to the next portal, you go portal to portal until zen comes around. . .half-life was my favorite FPS game of all time.

That depends of course on how you have your controls set up.
