Since the installation of my new GF3, HL has been going down the tubes. I'll be playing CS/TFC and after a time of play(it varies from a few mins, to 30 an hour, and so on..) then the system will 1) Just hang.. keep playing the same sound in loop/vid freezes.. etc.. a normal hang.. 2) it'll BSOD to irq_not_less_than... 3) It'll just restart...

Any ideas why? I know it's not CPU temp/RAM because both had been fine before the installation of the GF3 Ti200... unless the vid card is heating up the CPU.. but I don't see why that would happen. In further thought.. wouldn't it be nice if HalfLife had a Linux version? Client version of course..

Now just playing CS it seems to just hang like 5 mins into a game.. grrr.. it's driving me insane.. I'm going to uninstalled/reinstall quick, but last time it didn't help.

I've found that the latest Half-Life client patch isn't terribly stable -- it crashes on me often as well. Sometimes I can play 4 hours, sometimes just 5 mins. I don't think its your hardware setup, because I know others have the same problem as well.

Try getting the most updated drivers for your sound card and video card. I used to have this problem, but it seems to have gone away. Also, try getting the latest DirectX drivers. Some sound cards are picky about the sound that is played in the game. I disabled 3D sound on my sound card...and I'm fragging! (I'd better not jinx it :p) Hope this helps.

hmm.. nod.. I've got the brand new SB live drivers and the brand new Det's for my GF3.. and DX8.. not 8.1 but 8 should be fine.. maybe I'll go and disable the 3d sound and what not just to see what'll happen. Thanks for the ideas.
