I just finished this game and wow what a great story, graphics, and acting.

Game developers should take note how detailed Episode 2 is not to mention perform so well.

The graphics were phenomenal even compared to any recently engines. The character model look so good. The lush graphics... I love how this game looks. Not super shiny and not overly done. It looks so natural.

Why can't game developers make games perform like this game here?

It does look great, but realize that they get away with a lot as far as certain texture resolutions, as well as the fact that shadows still aren't truly real time.

Still, it brought Half-Life 2 back into my thoughts... it's a worthy continuation of my favorite game :D.

spoiler:

The ending seemed to really hint that E3 may have Gordon getting his own Portal gun. Seems like a cop-out to use that as the main new content rather than HL continuing to do its own thing. Following/leading all these characters around is starting to get to me a bit, kinda makes you miss the old days of the original HL where it was Gordon against it all, alone.

I really wanted to get to fight an Advisor too, not a bunch of Striders.

I had more fun with Portal somehow, lol.

I haven't even finished it yet, but I think I am close to the end. The game rocks, MUCH better than Ep1.

Yep, took me a few tries to get that one too. Run the hunters over with the car, jump out, grab sphere thing, launch, shoot, move on to next strider.

And with an ending like that, they'd better get Ep3 out sooner rather than later. Though, with Valve, that seems unlikely.

Me too. I was getting owned by hunters till I realized I could just hit 'em. :) I agree completely with Ep 3. I want it now.. but that's not happening.

YES YES YES YES. Once again Valve does it again. It truly blows my mind that other developers can not really even come close to doing what Valve can do. Your have blizzard on one spectrum of PC gaming, and Valve on the other. I once told my friends about 5 years ago that those were the last two passionate gaming developers. I mean, even a game using supposed better DX10 support (bioshock) is about half as good as HL2 E2. But, it is too short for the price. 3 hours for 30 bucks???? That does not make since. And sadly, if Valve is getting greedy, then its the end of Valve as we used to know it. Still, probably the best game ever created.

A few things I will like to see:
1. Those dog like creatures from original HL.
2. tad less wolk throughs with Alyx.
3. Less time between releases.

I ran those hunters over first time around.

I loved episode 1 too but this game had more to tell. :)

That last part pissed me off the first time. I didn't even think to run the hunters over, so they kept shooting the bombs off the striders before i could blow them up.

I just finished myself. It was a very short game.

No shorter than Ep 1. Had like 4-6 hours maybe? Not terrible. I loved it.

I enjoyed it, but it just felt very short.

I think both of the Episodes have had a "short feeling" regardless of the 4-6 hours depending on your play style. You're essentially always on the run in these episodes so they have a hurried feeling. I know what you mean about feeling short; I thought I finished the game in a mere hour or two, but it was really like 4.

Great, great game. even in the opening series of events you could see that the graphics were more crisp than the previous one, and things like particles (smoke at the end) and even the cheating shadows looked great.

***continuing the spoiler line...***

During the strider fight, I was just shooting the hunters the whole time and getting my butt kicked but working through it. Just as I'm being assaulted by 4 hunters near the end, a Strider walks over me, I change to the gravity gun to grab a magnussen, and accidentally pick up a log that's lying on the ground. As I'm looking at it and my brain starts to register that I can use this to shoot at the hunters, the hunters shoot their blue exploding things at me, about 6 of them stick to the log, which I shoot back at the hunters and kill one from the explosion of those blue things.

Killed the rest of the hunters that way since I had almost no ammo.

Then after the game I look back at Acheivements, and lo and behold "Payback - Kill a Hunter with its own flechettes." Right on!

Next time I'll just run them over though. I knew that charger was good for something other than impressing chicks.

I've been considering buying Episode 2 on Steam... now that I see it's only 4-6 hours of content... for $30... no thank you.

I finished the game yesterday and was surprised it ended so quick.
The ending session was a good one. The rocket scientist was pissing me off and I had a feeling he was up to something no good.
The Strider fight was great. Especially allowing them blow up the rocket silo, wow, that was awesome. I wasn't the smart gamer to run over the Hunters, I did it the old style way and actually killed them off 1 by 1. It was pretty challenging but was fun.

The graphics were kick ass. The smoke from the Rocket... WOW... it was truely spectacular. I'm not a fan of the ending... but I too agree the Portal gun will makes its way into HL.... many clues point to that..... great game. 4.5 of 5.

I liked it, but I was still a bit disappointed. Other than the very beginning, I didnt feel like there was anything really new about it. I can be asked to solve only so many odd phsyics and search puzzles before I get a bit tired. And the last battle just didnt really do it for me. It had its moments, but it was nowhere near bioshock.

Gotta say I enjoyed it much more that episode one.

These episode releases are driving me crazy though. With that ending I want to play episode three now, not in two years.

Excellent. I was wondering how to get that achievement. :)
