I ran Halflife and Counterstrike from my computer, but the openGL and the D3D never worked properly, so i had to run in software mode or else i would get errors...

bigben, that sounds like a problem with your video card drivers and not a Win2k issue. Were you using the default drivers Win2k supplied?

I've seen that error on Win98SE also. I'm running HL, and CS in Win2k right now, runs great, not as fast as Win98 but hardly noticeable.

Try deleting the CS folder, and installing the full version (not the upgrade) 7.1.

cool thanks. these are the patches that were installed.

Does that mean you fixed it?

We run counterstrike fine on our win2k computers at work on geforce 2 gts cards.

However, I heard from someone and noticed on all our computers that it seems to cap the max fps at 60 (as opposed to 100 in win98). Someone mentioned that there's a hack around it. Is this true and does anybody know of it? The maxfps or fpsmax console command doesn't do a thing.
