Half-Life Counter-Strike Resolution

What file stores the resolution in counter-strike. I need to know so that I can change the permissions on it so that users cannot make permenant resolution changes.

The resolution is set and saved in the registry. Managing the registry changes would work for you.

on a related note, is there a way to increase the size of the text in halflife because when I increase my resolution to 1600x1200 I cant read anything that people are saying or anything in the console...

Not in 1.5 and lower. The 1.6 beta, and the public release of 1.7 (sometime this tear, to co-incide with CZ coming out) will offer 1280x1024

Yes, there is a way to increase the font size, its installing some new fonts. I remember seeing some fonts on csnation a long time ago when I ran 16x12, but I didn't like the newer installed fonts. 1.6 will fix this.
