Half Life - Blue Shift CD key question

Someone was telling me that the CD key from Blue Shift and some other Half Life packages (Anthology?) were valid for Steam. What I'm looking for is basically a cheap CD key that's valid for CS 1.6 and other Half Life (not 2) mods on Steam. Is this true? Can I purchase Half Life Anthology for $8 at GoGamer or Blue Shift (IIRC $5 elsewhere) and get this stuff on Steam? TIA.

Yes... if you purchase the product in store then you can enter the key in steam and it'll tie that key to your account. Then all the games you've purchased are in your games list in steam and won't require any sort of disc. It really is a fantastic way of handling things, so don't listen to anybody that says otherwise.

Anyways, I am assuming that there is only ONE CDkey in there, which will only allow you to play those games, so no CS. There's a reason why they have a CS anthology.

I bought my Half-Life Platinum pack at Best Buy two Black Fridays ago for $10 bucks and I got THREE valid CDkeys for use at Steam. So I was able to get ALL those games in all THREE accounts (including CS, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, etc)!

A half-life CD key will unlock all HL1 based games on Steam (HL1, CS, DOD, Team Fortress, etc.) I don't think a Blue Shift key will work to get any Half-Life games on steam... afaik Blue Shift was released free on steam to all HL1 Owners around a year ago

Yes and no...

My Platinum pack came with HL1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Counter-Strike, and Team Fortress

The HL1, Blue Shift, and CS keys were able to be used

They gave me ALL the games in this pack! So HL1 and Blue Shift key gave me CS also.

Also, a HL Anthology key DOES NOT get you CS.
