Anyone know if HL works with Win 2000? I heard it did so I installed it and patched it with CS 1.0. Now when I try to run it I get a read memory error? This some kind of bug, or does it just not work with 2k? 🙂
 
It works great with Win2k.

By the way, after you install it off the CD, install the latest halflife patch, then install the counterstrike patch (a total of 2 patches).
 
Doesn't CS come with the latest patch?
If not, what is the latest? I've got 10051016 sitting here.. hope I don't have to DL another patch. 😛 I've been playing CS with what I've got though so...
 
HL never worked for me in win2k.but then again i never took the time to redownload the 51meg patch with CS.... my friend did and tild me that HL works now (i think)
 
yes, hl works with windows 2000. although a friend of mine and myself have incountered a rather weird problem. being unable to start a server [non dedicated] in win2k. it just didn't seem to want to. he's stayed with win2k [he has smp] but i went back to win98se, although i am considering moving back to win2k.
 
CS is just a mod, you need to patch Half-Life first then install CS 1.0. 1016 is really old btw, they are already up to 1104. You can get the whole half-life patch here.
