Half Life 2 has lost it's steam and appeal. Doom 3 has come and gone (and been mostly very impressive).

I will say that most folks that purchase HL2 do so b/c "they have to." I am one of those folks. HL was THE original game that got me hooked on sci-fi/fps type games. I played it for hundreds...if not thousands of hours. 🙂 Let's not forget that CS is a HL spawn!!! How many countless hours have been wasted playing CS online? 😀 :Q

Yeah, I'll buy HL2, but not with the same "OMG I gotta SEE this game, man!!! It looked awesome in the screenies I saw online!" fever that I had for it a year ago.

Yeah, the HL Boner is a goner.

Agreed. I'll still buy HL2, and I'm still pretty excited, but not nearly as much as I was in May 03.

I disagree to an extent. Doom3 in the end was about the engine. Apperantly the game didn't meet certain expectations. After seeign the HL2 clips a few times, I am under the impression that HK2 will be fun as hell. The graphics, although perhaps a tad bit behind doom3 are used in a more useful manner which still creates a great degree of realism. In fact it sometines superceeds doom3's showings.

EIther way, if my 2500+ 9800pro can handle it, I'll sure buy it

P4 2.53 Ghz w/ 9700 Pro, you've got nothing to complain about.

Yeah, its losing its appeal in the wait, there's only so long you can be psyched up about a game before its release.

When it comes out though, if its as good as the previews/E3 movies/etc seem to indicate, then we may all end up admiting it was worth it.

To actually post something relevant to the discussion, I agree that HL:2 will probably not have any "wow" factor, especially after looking at the in-game vids. I still think it has the potential to be a great (fun) game, though.
 
I'm excited, I can't wait to play it, I'm gonna get it, gonna play through it, then through HL: Source, then play CS: Source for a long time to come.
