Half Life 2 video from E3

I hope fileplanet (and now fileshack) both go out of business. Lines, and now subscriber-only material? Bastards. I will get a link I saw somewhere that has alot of good video in a sec, it's on my other computer.

Sweet, its over 20 minutes long and its supposed to show the strider in action. I have the smaller movie showing the gravity gun.

But yes, it was unbelievable. This looks oodles better than Doom 3 to me 🙂...

yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. But in the defense of D3, they haven't REALLY shown much. They've been doing a good job of keeping all the details under wraps.

Watching the HL2 video gave me serious thoughts of laying down $400 for a new videocard and cpu.

That Bit torrent thing seems to not like my setup. Maybe the NAT router is hosing it. It dops dwn to ~ 3K sec down and9 K up. Gotta find another place to get the video!

Had a look on Kazaa but only found one host with the file and connection was not possible..... at least the bit torrent thing works and provides a constant stream, getting around 30k/s so looking ok.

For those of you that say, "Yuck, 500megs?" I say: "That's the most awesome demonstration of video game technology ever dangit." Download this sucker, it won't disappoint.

Same, I am saving up for a Athlon 64, New GFX Card, New Motherboard and of course Half-Life along with Doom 3.

All I really think I'm going to need myself is MAYBE a new video card, DX9 compatible, and even then only if I NEED to run at high detail. I'll see, but this would be the only reason for me to get one.

Will this game cause us all to upgrade hehe. Looks sweet but very graphics intensive.

According to planet halflife, its a very scaleable engine.
While the new engine has all sorts of fancy features, it's still designed to scale and work on lower-end machines. Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough, although a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended. Rumors about NVidia or ATI exclusivity are unfounded.

Half-Life 2 looks very good, i just finished DLing and watching the video.
But one of the reasons that Doom3 doesnt look as good, texture wise, is because,
a)Doom3 relies heavily on normal/bump mapping for the impressive visuals, and hence, not so good textures.
b) Doom3 is all in the dark, you can hardly see anything!!!
