Half Life 2 Still Holds up really well

I've never played HL2. Got my hands full with Skyrim right now though.

i'm actually the minority. Got it on release day and i did not enjoy HL2. i did manage to finish it, but it wasnt what i expected.
Plus Steam back then sucked. i didnt like the vagueness of what was going on and some parts were over extended, like the cycle/boat ride. and more scripted than i anticipated with what i found to be rather boring level designs and nothing too interesting to look at.

I'm always surprised by how well older PC games hold up, visually.

Compare that to console games.. where you honestly can't even believe you were able to make out the screen! Ever fire up an old PSX? Looks like smeared goop! I felt like I went blind.

Honestly, just about any PC game running in your highest resolution, with full blown AA and AF looks good enough to me. I've never run into an older game that looked too antiquated or anything.
