I bought the Bronze HL2 package off steam last night. I loaded Counterstrike: Source and ran around a bit to test the engine on my machine. No problem.
I went to bed while HL2 was downloading and when I got up at 6 I decided to play for a bit. An hour later I was feeling dizzy, getting cold sweats, and feeling like I was going to throw up.
I haven't had any of these symptoms before... except during the original Half Life. The last FPS game I played, Doom 3, did not cause me any adverse symptoms. I had 3-4 hour sessions of Doom 3 without so much as a twinge of sickness (ok... maybe a bit from all the blood & gore).
I have read that the FOV (Field of Vision) on HL2 is 75 degrees compared to 90 degrees in Counterstrike: Source. I think Doom 3 has a 90 degree FOV as well. Some people speculate that the low FOV in HL2 is what is making some people feel ill.
Can anyone offer advice? I'd like to think I didn't just spend $50 for a game I can't play.
