I have a Dell XPS Gen 3 desktop with 3.4 GHz Intel CPU and 256 MB X800XT video card and 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM and Seria ATA Raid 0 with dual 160 GB drives (7,200 RPM).

After a restart, it takes 1 minute and 10 seconds to load the game. About 15 seconds after hitting load game and 25 seconds to load Route Canal (Kanal sp?).

Are these times typical?

I run the game on 1024 x 768, normal (4:3), high model detail, 4x antialiasing mode, high texture detail, anisotropic 8x, reflect world, high shader detail, high shadow detail and vertical sync is disabled. I believe these setting overheat either or both the cpu and video card because the game locks up. Shouldn't I expect the Dell system to provide adequate cooling?

How can I monitor the CPU temp and the video card temp?

What's annoying too is when I save game, it takes another 10-15 seconds for it to allow me to save it.

Thanks.

I guess you can go out for Chinese dinner if you have a PIII while the game is loading............

It is slow for me and I have an Athlon64 3500+ / 1GB DDR / 6800GT / SATA.

It's just the massive amount of data the game has to load prior to playing.

Strangely, I don't notice jackshit for load times. I have a pathetic XP1900, 768mb of RAM, a metric buttload of disk space, and an R9600Pro-EZ.
