Half-Life 2 high-res textures

I can't get these to work:

the readme is cryptic. I'm not sure where to put them in the directory... help? Thanks.

Copy the materials folders to your <path to SteamApps>/<username>/Half-life 2/hl2/

😕 The instructions are as simple as they can possibly be. Just put the materials folder in your SteamApps/<username>/Half-life 2/hl2/ folder.

For me, it became C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\igowerf\Half-Life 2\HL2\materials.

right but that doesn't work... I don't think thats how it actually works, it seems too basic, but I can't figure out where it goes.

Uh... yes it does. I just did it and loaded up a saved game to check. It works fine.
