Half Life 2 - fresh install - how to start a different chapter?

Is there a way I can start at a further chapter insted of the very begining from a fresh install?

Yea I did the same thing, formatted and back everything up but my HL-2 Saves and I was half-way through I havent played it since, if you find out how LMK!!!

There is a cheat that will let you do this.

Enter these with the 'map' code in the console. Press ~ to activate the console.
Code Effect
d1_under_01 Spawns you in lab
d2_prison_01 Spawns you in Nova Prospekt
d1_town_01 Spawns you in Ravenholm
d1_canals_01 Spawns you in the canals.
d3_c17_01 Spawns you in the city 17 rebellion
d1_trainstation_01 Spawns you in train station
d2_coast_01 Spawns you on the coast (Vehicle)

Map # Load Map (Input title in place of #)

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "config.cfg" file in the "\hl2\cfg" directory. Locate the "sv_unlockedchapters" line and change its value to "15".

Works great.
