half life 2 episode 2

I'm stuck in half life 2 episode 2. I made it over to the far side of the bridge where you get the yellow car. The bridge just shifted so how do I get the car to the other side?

Get across the gap and push all the abandoned cars off the bridge with the gravity gun. That section of the bridge will shift allowing you to jump across with the car.

Dont think of the broken bridge as a giant concrete structure that is liable to cumble into a thousand pieces if the the strains placed upon it ever so slightly disrupt the fragile equilibrium that is keeping it standing.

Rather, imagine that it is a plank of plywood, lying above a small triangle at its center. Forget that it was previously held up by several concrete columns.

Now imagine that the cars lying upon the bridge weigh several dozen tons, rather than having the relative weight of aluminum foil compared to the immensely massive concrete structure that is the bridge.

Now use physics. Go. 😛

I got stuck on that part for the better part of 20 minutes trying to think logically. I knocked the cars off in frustration. 🙂 That made absolutely no sense, but it's just a game.

It catches you off guard because you think, "there's no way they'd be lazy enough to put in another stupid see-saw puzzle". And then you figure it out... and cry a little inside.

LOL......yup! Took me quite a while too

Games that make you think = pwn. 😉 and I hate that word pwn' too.

Just like Portal lmao! Download the Portal map online made by the people who made Oblivion. It's quite complicated and damn fun. Just beat it 😉

agreed. it wasn't hard to figure out, but the solution was indeed difficult to swallow.. "yeah let's shift the balance on this completely unstable bridge while I'm on it and hope it magically tilts into a ramp and not fall and kill me like any sane man would expect it to". That exploding grenade under the swinging metal sheet trick was pretty lame too. It looked like a very good way to completely shatter your feet.

That was easy.

It wasent easy when you think like BD2003. Some of the bridge rubble looked like little path back accross, i thought maybe i could go get alex to help, that was a no go. Charging at top speed at the gap was a no go as well, tried that severel times. Finally i went over to see what was on the bridge, found nothing but cars so i knocked them off for fun and the thing moved to my surprise and didnt collapse.

Word for word, that's exactly what I did. I thought what the hell...I'll just knock the cars off and some how get a clear path. I didn't know the bridge was going to see-saw.

Thanks for the tip guys. Yeah, I guess you have to stop thinking like you're in the real world with this game. Now I'm past that part.

** SPOILERS BELOW **

Actually, I thought the next puzzle where you had to propel yourself was funny. I found myself in a garage with a rocket launcher and some rockets locked up in a cage. I knew the switch up on the scaffolding had to be thrown but couldn't get up there. First I hopped on the swinging steel and tried to use the gravity gun to propel me from the floor. Well, that only got me a few feet into the air. Then I picked up the paint can and threw it at the switch several times in hopes it would hit it just right. Well, eventually the can exploded and disappeared. So I just stood back for a few moments and looked at the metal grate again. Then I noticed the blood spot up on the ceiling and the guy hanging from the rafters and thought about the guy flying through the air, hiting the ceiling and landing on the rafter. This made me lol a bit. 🙂 Then I looked down and saw the blackened marks under the grate. Then it hit me. "rocket gordon" LOL

Grenades should be used here, really. Throw grenade under metal door in the floor, stand on door, WIN.
