err...is the Half-Life 2 DVD+R or DVD-R? I gotta ask this 'cause my DVD-drive supports only DVD+R.
Don't shoot me if this is a dump question :)

It's "pressed" not burned, so as MCrusty says, it's a DVD-ROM (a read-only memory).
Any DVD drive will read it.

As a further explanation since it seems you are MASSIVELY confused:
Any DVD software/video you buy in a store is a DVD-ROM. As long as you have a DVD-ROM, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, or DVDRW drive, you can read that disc.
If your drive only supports DVD+R, that means you can only BURN +R DVD's. However, you can still burn CD-R's, read CD's, and ready DVD-ROM's. GL

While I think you are correct in your assumption the OP has a DVD+R burner, there are DVD-ROM drives that do not support DVD-R or DVD+R discs.

This drive for example, can't read DVD+R discs.
