Ok, I've got a problem with Half-Life 2. It crashes every 10-60 minutes of gameplay. Not at any specific location or when I do anything specific, but it jsut seems that if I can play for more than half an hour I'm lucky. Are there any known problems with this game being unstable?

It just drops to the desktop with a "hl2.exe has generated an error" message. Once the whole machine restarted.

I've got an athlon XP 2600+, 1 gig of ram, and a GeForce 6600. Nothing is overclocked. Also, I'm running XP Pro, SP2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Has this occured for a while now? People say that sometimes a new patch can cause crashes like that. Overall I've seen my HL2 and others HL2 crash for the usual reasons: overclocking or heat. If you can rule these out, perhaps try a memtest on your memory. I found flaky memory to crash my BF2/SF. I remedied by switching the DIMM positions (one of them might've been incompatible with the auto timings) and raising the voltage by .1 V.
