I hear the Collector's Edition come with the ports of the original HL and some of the other games. I was under the impression that they would be free to download. Will the ports be free to download? Is the CE the only way to get them? Thanks!

Yea they are porting the original releases like HL1 and Opposing Forces. I just want to know if they will be free to download or if you have to buy the Collector's Edition to get them, that's all.

if they're gonna put the full HL1 game on the HL2 engine, i just may decide to buy the collector's edition... otherwise i'd just regular hl2 purely for its cdkey cuz i'm a cs addict :)

Do you mean they've ported the original HL1 into the HL2 engine?!?! If so, i'm soooo buying that!! I've never played the original HL, and starting today just wouldn't interest me with the outdated graphics, but OMG if they port it to the new engine, i'll definitely get it.

Both HL1 and Counterstrike are being ported over to the sourc engine. It has not been said what the collectors edition will entail, but its rumored the following:

Half-Life 2
Half-life Source (HL1 ported over to the HL2 Engine)
Counter Strike Source (Counter Strike ported over to the HL2 Engine)

Oh, I see. Porting them to the new game engine... I thought they would be porting to some different platform. It'd be pretty cool to play HL1 with HL2 graphics.

I can't see how Counter Strike Source would "only" be included with the collector's edition, seeing how popular it is. HL1 maybe.
If either are true, I"ll definitly get it.

I knew they were porting CS over to the new source engine, but I haven't seen any screenshots or heard any info about the original Half-Life being ported. I wonder how they have the time to basically port over an old game. Man, they're going to make so much money with Half-Life 2.

I never played through the original HL (got bored on the train at the beginning  ) so if they do manage to do this (maybe this is the cause for the delays??) then I'll more than likely be getting it :)

According to the article linked above at least CS will be free to all who buy HL2. Others may be sold as expansion packs or be included with a collectors edition.

I don't know $80 sounds like a little much for a collectors edition if you ask me. Maybe if it was a little cheaper...

I see what you mean about 3 games or however many are included but they are ports nothing new and original (besides HL2). I still think the $80 price tag is a little high. I want the CE, unless the ports are free so I might have to pay it anyways
